I have morphed into a food monster...what is up?

Recommended Posts

Just stopping in to agree with Mr. Downtown---I too am back to eating pretty much all the same things I did before, banding, I just eat them in extreme moderation now!! I do try to limit the white flour and sugars....but have not really denied myself anything.

I too had the last supper syndrome-----oooh I need this, or what about that!!! Now, I relaize it was pointless, I am back to being able to eat it!! Difference is amounts! Taco Bell was mentioned---I used to go in and order one of the Value meals---and wonder if I should order an extra taco or something--it might not be enough. Now I go in and order the taco and I am done! Tacos are one of the easiest things ever for me to eat, and I love them, so it works!!!

Hang in there guys, our minds play tricks on us---but you are not alone---many of us have done it, and survived it!!!

Oh--and welcome to LBT guys!!!

Kat

Omgosh, I found myself indulging in my favorite foods too... then I found out that my insurance wouldn't cover me if I was over a certain BMI.. and low and behold I have to lose 10lbs before August 22nd.... no more indulgence for me! I did manage to eat one more meal of my beloved sushi though... ahhh...

Been there, done that! I was a total hog before I had to do the two weeks of liquids prior to surgery. I gained like 6 pounds because of it. It's definitely "last meal" syndrome!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
