I also was sleeved on 12/28. I have no pain and have been off pain meds since 12/30. My problem is my eyesight. It has gotten really bad but the Dr says is it common. still real tired and the itch from the dermabandage is crazy. I can get my liquids and Proteins in for the moist part but I want to CRUNCH on to something. I stay full from the Protein shakes and don't get real hungry but just to bite into something. OMG that is what I can't get out of my head.

I think it's time to mention the noble avocado. Soft, easy to digest, lubes the insides, has good fats, and is considered a super food. Mash with fork and some Greek yogurt. And some nutritional yeast.... Yum.

I can't wait till we are able to eat mashed potatoes and eggs. I'm tired of shakes and cream of chicken Soup

YOU SAID IT! I hope I never see another Protein shake again, when I am done! And I started the liquid diet Dec. 7, because we were unsure if I would get insurance approval to have it done the week of Christmas. Ended up a week later, so an extra week of the shakes!

I also agree 1000%; I could kill for anything NOT broth, Premier Protein Shakes, Isocure Protein drinks etc. This week I am allowed Tomato Soup or creamed Soups with no lumps (like chicken chunks etc); Next week I graduate to baby food...pureed meat/veg, no lumps of course and I believe V8 veg juice and cottage cheese (yea! some flavor finally!)I keep looking at the little round box of Laughing Cow cheeses in the fridge, I have almost convinced myself that they really ARE a liquid, not a solid :) .I have only dropped about 5 lbs since my operation last Monday, hopefully that will increase substantially over the next weeks

It's common for eyesight to get bad after this surgery???? Why is that?

My dr. said it was common and it should be normal within a week or two and he was right. My eyesight was real bad and now it is back to normal.

I have seen my weight fluctuate greatly as well, a week after surgery I was up 8 lbs! I did notice my ankles were slightly swollen so I choked it up to Water retention....a few days later I was back down and had actually lost 4 lbs. Makes sense, if there is next to nothing going in other than 80grams of Protein via Protein shakes and drinks, then it is impossible to actually gain weight (fat weight)

Walking around in a pool is excellent for Fluid retention relief. 15 minutes of pool movement provides enough gentile pressure across your whole body to push much extra fluid back into your core where the kidney can dispose of it. That is why one has to pee after swimming like a Russian race horse on derby day.

Just make sure you are cleared to get in the pool before you do so. I had to wait until my incisions were healed which was about 4 weeks post-op.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
