OMG - First time PB'er

Recommended Posts

Thought I'd share my miserable story of a lesson learned - I got my band in November of 06 and it took about 3-4 months for fills to start having an effect. Two weeks ago I had an adjustment to 6.5cc's - This seems to be my sweet spot.

Went to Jackson Hole ( a great burger joint) in Bayside, Queens on Sunday, and kinda forgot about my band... HUGE mistake, as a chunk of burger got stuck... bad.

I proceeded to PB in the restaurant bahroom twice, then on the ride home on the Clearview, TNB, 95 and the Hutch before the chunk got unstuck. What a horrible, horrible experience, but lesson learned.

So far I've lost 70 pounds and feel great, but must re-concentrate on not just how much I eat, but what I'm eating.

Well, that's my story... food for thought! :biggrin1:

Oh yes, the famous PB episode. I was in a restraunt with my husband and I couldn't make it to the bathroom and PBd right back into my Soup bowl in front of everyone! Thankfully it didn't sound like I was vomitting so pretty much nobody looked. Funny.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
