Situation I need help with

Recommended Posts

I work in a small office and am very close with my boss. She is a sweet heart and I adore working for her. She has been very supportive of my decision to have the lap band. Well yesterday we are eating together, me with my campbells Soup and her with enchiladas, rice and Beans. She gets part way through her meal and looks at me and asks me to please finish it, that she cannot possibly. I just sort of sat and stared at her. She knows I am on the liquid portion right now and cannot eat that stuff. I told her I couldn't and explained why. She continued (practically begging me) saying she could not bare to waste all of the food. Ok, so I may have previously been the human garbage can, but after telling her no more than once (and telling her to just save it for the next day) I was a bit perplexed as to why she would continue badgering me. I just don't get it! How do I handle this in the future. I mean lets be honest, liquid phase or not I still will not be able to finish her food for her in the future.

:)

Thanks for listening!

I would have smiled and asked the wait person for a to go box. If that didn't give her the message hand it to her when you're leaving and tell her, well now you're not wasting it.

sometimes I think people like to "test" us. To see if we really are serious? I don't know - but from now on, I agree get a to g0 box and wrap it up. Tell her you'll save it for her the next day for lunch.

Stick to your guns, eventually she'll learn what you can or cannot eat and that you are serious about your weight loss!

Now I understand she is your boss. SO, there need not be harsh words, and plus you said she was a sweet heart. Is she over weight? That would be my first question. And then the next time it happens just tell her sweetly that all that Soup you are eating is just so filling that you could NOT possiby eat the rest of her lunch too. But, if you could take it home and eat it later. Then dump it!!!! Solves the issue of being rude and solves her pushing you to take it!!!

That is pretty smart to just take it and dump it. She is not overweight. She is actually very thin. I guess I was just a little dumbfounded because normally she is so understanding and very supportive. I thought Maybe I was being a little too insensitive about it but then decided that I wasn't and that she was actually being extremely rude to me.

Thank you everyone for all the great suggestions. At least, if there is a next time, depending on my mood, I will have some ways to handle the situation.

I agree it was very rude of her, especially where you had told her, but again, people are weird and sometimes have other motives. Hang in there, you are doing it!!!

How about directly, and appropriately confronting her with...you know I'm on a liquid diet in prep for my lap band. Please don't ask me now or later, to eat the excess food for you. I cannot and will not do it.

And to make sure it was nice..I'd put my hand on her arm, if that is appropriate for your relationship, look her squarely in the eyes and say it. You could also add that you would really appreciate her support for your change...that greater success comes from having a "good" support system.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
