I finally lost the weight my surgeon required before he would book my surgery! Even beat it by 4 lbs. February 9th will be here before I know it. I wanted to be healthier before I turned 30 and since I turn 30 in May this is a great start I think. ALL advice is welcome for sure. Here are some facts about me and this journey: I'm 29 years old, I started this process at 444 lbs, I'm currently 395, I first met my surgeon in May 2015, I am married with 2 teenage step kids and my hubby and I want more as soon as I'm at a heathy weight for both me and a baby. So excited!

Congratulations! You are in for quite an adventure.

The best advice I can give you is to learn as much as you can by reading and asking lots of questions.

Also, be persistent, positive, proactive and patient.

I am so glad you finally have a surgery date. Believe me I know how frustrating and the up in the air feeling you get when you have to wait sooo long for a date. You also have a great start with the weight you were able to lose. What type of surgery are you going to have? I have a feeling I also will be having my surgery in Feb instead of Dec or Jan like I originally thought. If you are getting the sleeve there is a Jan -Feb surgery thread on these boards. if your interested in joining here is the url. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/357095-january-or-february-2016-sleevers/

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
