Hello all. I was wondering, what brand of Calcium is your favorite type to take?

I like both Bariatric Advantage chews and Calcet Creamy Bites, but they're both kind of pricy so I just have one (or the other) after dinner as my "dessert". For my earlier in the day doses, I take either generic tablets or mix a scoop of Upcal D (a powder) into some yogurt

I use Citrical primarily because it is inexpensive. This is hard in the beginning because it is horse pill size and one is unable to swallow it for the first few months after surgery. That means in the beginning it must be crushed and it taste like chalk.

Bariatric Advantage is, by far, the best tasting. chocolate tastes like a tootsie roll and lemon like starburst. They are expensive but I've got 3 packages that should take me through to the time I can take a horsepill.

They come in two different strengths: 250 & 500 mg. I have chocolate and lemon at 250 mg and orange at 500 mg. At 500 mg they're a little chalky but still not as bad as others I've tried.

Awesome! Thank you for sharing. I'm going to look into the advantage brand as they sound the most tolerable.

Thank you for the link. I ordered a bag of chocolate for $14.50. That's reasonable.

I made the mistake of buying the Bariatric Advantage sweet tarts. Yuck! They are huge and overly sweet but expensive.

Next time I will make sure I get the chocolate chews which I know are better tasting.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
