Hi January Sleevers! Just had mine on Monday, Jan 4. I was in the hospital for two nights because I wasn't able to get fluids down my esophagus due to air bubbles coming back up my throat. I came home yesterday afternoon, feeling better than yesterday.

Gas pains are the worst. Pack GasX strips.... They help!! Also, walk, walk, and walk!! On the day of the surgery, I walked a lot more than the next day and I still had gas pains.

The day after the surgery was the most difficult for me.... Both physically and emotionally. So, be prepared for some doubts and some remorse as your healing begins.... It will all pass. I am so much more positive day 4 and ready to conquer all of the challenges!

Best of luck to everyone going this month, please keep us all posted!!

I have a date of 1/5/16. Like many others, I'm wondering if anyone else is close to having surgery on this date so we can compare notes and try to help boost our spirits if we're struggling. I'd love to hear from anyone!

I'm getting sleeved on 1/07/2016

There are a couple of other threads on this, but not a lot of people are citing Jan dates. I'm Jan 7. Good luck!!!

I am getting sleeved on Jan. 7th In Federal Way, WA. I am so excited! Less then 4 weeks!
we will be sleeved siblings

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
