How long were you in operating room?

Recommended Posts

I hear various stories about how long the procedure takes and I understand it's different for every person and every surgeon.

If you don't mind sharing, how long did your procedure take?

About 40 minutes, according to my DH, from when they took into surgery until they told him I was in the recovery room... . My good friend was in and out in 25 minutes.

Everyone is different...My surgeon told me "up to 3 hours"---I was in & out in 1.5 hours....and was walking 4 hours post-op.

I had gastric bypass 29 years ago. A lot of scare tissue. It had tone revised 10 years ago. So this brings me to Monday's surgery. The surgery time was 5 Hours. They replace all the old mesh and liced the scare tissue. A very Big surgery. This was my last chance to have a bad put in. All went great. Very sore and 9 holes. post-267288-14491046597562_thumb.jpg

It was worth every bit of the pain I had it done at Columbia Pres in NYC. Dr Marks Bessler, he is my hero. Two days later I am on pain Med and clear broth 2oz every 20 mins. Two Baristric advantage shakes a day for a week. For today I am working the band. One day at a time.

Good Luck

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
