@@rking I'm perfectly fine now. It was all the pain meds causing me problems. As soon as I got off of them, I was all better.

tmcx28, A lot of the time, 1-2 nights are common. It depends on the surgeon and facility, though. I also wonder if your friend had some sort of condition that meant she would need to stay an extra night.

Good luck with your surgery! Make sure you don’t overdo it when you get back home – ask for the help you need, even if it means arranging ahead of time for someone to be there to help you “just in case.” You don’t want to overdo things and risk delaying recovery or worse getting a complication!

I am sure things will go fine on Tuesday. Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

I had gastric sleeve and was in the hospital 1 night. I almost ended up back in the hospital because of dehydration. Please work hard to get as much Fluid in you as you can. Your tastes will probably change after surgery. Prior to surgery I loved room temperature Water, but after surgery it made me sick. I had to have very cold liquids. Protein drinks that I liked before surgery, didn't agree with me after surgery. Now that I am almost 17 months post surgery, everything is back to normal. This surgery was the best thing I ever did for myself. Good luck with you surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
