Still feeling no restriction

Recommended Posts

So, I had my appointment yesterday. I asked about my hunger and the nurse says it's probably my hormones?! I'm pre menopausal and she suggests I see my Gyno as HRT might help. As for the restriction, she said everyone is different. They use the same size Bougie, a 40, on all their patients. Seeing as I am losing weight, they are not overly concerned. I just have to measure all my portions very carefully so as to not overeat. She thinks, once I get my hormones sorted out, my hunger will subside,

I also just did the Cottage cheese Test. I set my timer for 5 minutes and ate fairly quickly. According to the test, my sleeve can hold a cup of food.

I'm 33, but that's not to say my hormones aren't out of whack. I came off the pill for surgery. I go on Monday to have a chat. I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks so much for sharing! I think we are in the same boat though! I'm losing, but I have to work a little harder. If I didn't measure, my calories would be too high! Did they give you a calorie goal?

Can I ask why you stopped the pill?

My surgeon required I be off of it for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I just never started it again.

Interesting...I wonder if that's standard. I just went back ON the pill a month ago and now I'm pursuing this procedure. :-/

Wondering if you are able to have more restriction now. I'm 1 week out and feel no restriction at all. I am very concerned! I'm still on mushy food, but I have yet to feel full. I can also drink a lot and fast without any problems. I discovered this because I absentmindedly chugged about 9oz of watered had no problem aside from my stomach "talking to me."

I feel restriction, but it is with more food than I thought I would be able to eat. I follow the mantra, "it's not about how much you can stuff in there, but how little can you eat and feel satisfied?" The reality is I do feel satisfied by eating significantly less food. However, it may be more than some other Sleeve patients. Each person has their own journey and this is mine.

Hi. I'm the original poster. 5 1/2 months out now and still have very little restriction. Saying that though, I am losing weight, albeit very slowly. I make sure that I always eat my Protein first, drink plenty of Water and make healthy food choices. I've learned that this process is very different for everyone and not to compsre ;)

@@Linzlou question: what is your exercise schedule and caloric intake?

I get 10,000 steps daily and workout 2-4 times a week. One of my workouts is a class "Core and More". The other times is treadmill with some strength training. I eat between 900-1,300 calories. I log my food religiously. I def watch my carbs. I've never had a problem getting my Protein in

@Linzloo2000

That's what I do, but it had been so hard to lose. I am wondering if it is my carb intake. How many mg of carbs are you taking in a day?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
