I had my Surgery Nov 2, 2015. I have only lost 10 pounds so far. I am stressing myself out about this. I am not sure if this is normal. I average about 48-64 ounces of liquid.

How much Protein are you eating/drinking. Also, do you know how much you gained from the hospital? Some people gain like 15 pounds from all the fluids and whatnot, so you may have had that extra weight. I lost very slowly in the beginning, and it was super discouraging. But now I'm three months out and have passed the 60 pounds lost mark. Just follow the plan and take good care of yourself and everything will happen when it happens. :)

My weight loss has been slow, too. In fact, I had a 3 week stall only one week after surgery. My NUT told me that people lose at different rates. Some people's insides take longer to heal than others. Sometimes it takes longer for some people to get over the shock of the surgery to their bodies.

It is important not to compare your weight loss to others. Each journey will be different. The important thing to concentrate on is getting in your liquids and Protein and to exercise as much as you are able. The weight loss may be slower at first, but will eventually move right along.

It is hard to get everything in at first, but is so important to the healing process. I was getting in 60 grams of Protein each day; my NUT wants me to try to get in around 75.

It is hard when we have waited so long for this tool. It is hard when we see others report great weight loss in the first month or so after surgery. Nevertheless, each journey is as different as each person taking it. The tool has proved itself to be useful and reliable. Hang in there! And if you need to step away from the scale for a bit - do so. Good luck on your journey!

Thank you. It makes it a little hard also because my mom had the surgery last January so she will text me everyday to check in and I love that. However the next thing she asks how much are you down. I was feeling pressure. I told her this morning I am only weighing in once a week. So, I am hoping not so much pressure. ???? she means well I know.

yeah, I'm sure she means well - and it is hard to tell your mom to 'back off' lol :) You aren't that far out from surgery so it is still new to her - maybe in time she will stop asking so frequently - or maybe you will need to find a gentle loving way to let her know that you are allowing the process to work in its own time.

Minime15 I also had surgery 11/2 and have only lost 14 pounds, didn't gain any from the hospital. My mother had the surgery 10 years ago and she likes to ask how much am I down and I finally had to tell her I would update her when there is a change. I haven't lost anything in almost two weeks.. So frustrating.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
