I am 8 days out, as well. Down 21 pounds. I feel hungry, lightheaded and sluggish, too. Yesterday I had about 1 Tbs. of pureed cottage cheese and for dinner I had 2 Tbs. of plain mashed potatoes. I also got in all my liquids, a Protein shake, Jello and yogurt. My biggest problem is night hunger. My stomach and head are waking me up in the middle of the night. Trying to eat or drink some kind of Protein before bed to stave that off. Hang in there! We are traveling this journey right alongside of you! I have just showered and washed my hair. Resting before I dry my hair. Took out my last staple this morning. Kinda scary but I'm glad it is out even though I got very dizzy after I pulled it out. We are having heavy storms here today. Just trying to stay calm and follow the plan.

I was still in full liquids at 8 days out.

I was still using Protein shakes, ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrate. ProtiDiet Tomato basil and creamy chicken Soups, and V8. I was also allowed cottage cheese and Greek yogurt during my full liquid stage.

You should be doing everything you can to get in all of your Protein and fluids.

I never thought I'd look forward to eating puréed food... I'm down 14 pounds in 8 days. My surgery weight was 195.2. My goal is 125-130. I'm so ready to get back into the gym. Going to start with swimming and Water aerobics. Staples come out tomorrow. Ready to not feel so "malnourished" and so exhausted all the time... It's hard when you have young kids and have to rely on others to do so much for you. Blessed and thankful for helpful parents though. And an amazing husband

Hi Lucy H,

I understand the night hunger, I started making a bottle of crystal light and a Protein Shake before bed, just in-case I woke up with a cramping growling stomach I could feed it. It helps that I have a college dorm size fridge in the bedroom, so it was not a far trip for liquid.

I found that having either of these liquids available in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning provided mental relief that I did not have to get up and fix a Protein Drink, because I had one available...those night hunger pains are no joke :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
