I was very disappointed when I went in for my sleep study results. Not so much that I had mild sleep apnea because I knew it would count as a comorbidity, but because I found out I have to do ANOTHER sleep study and that I couldn't get clearance for surgery right away like I thought. I have come to terms with it a little more and just ready to get this last thing over with so I can get a surgery date finally.

Oh man, that must be so frustrating! It will be worth it and your surgery will be here before you know it! When are you anticipating your surgery? Mine probably won't be until early February. <3
I actually ended up going to see another doctor. There had been rumors going around about the previous doctor that he has a deal with the makers of the CPAP machine and he gets a nice cut every time someone gets one so EVERYONE gets one. I got a second opinion because my results seemed so insignificant I found it hard to believe that I truly needed a CPAP. So I went in for a second opinion and the doctor did confirm that I have extremely mild sleep apnea but there was no reason to treat it and cleared me for surgery. I got my date today 12/28. Even if I did need one though, I was going to continue with another doctor. I didn't like the first one lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
