HELP! (No, it's not really THAT dramatic????)

Recommended Posts

Elode, here's what keeps my sugar beasts at bay:

1. Eating lots of dense Protein (animal Protein, actually)

2. Drinking lots of Water / non-calorie liquids

3. Walking a lot (the endorphins make me happy / feeling strong)

4. Staying busy (whether with work or play) with things that keep my mind focused

For me (not saying it's the same for you) my sugar cravings are my body's way of saying, "I'm bored, I'm tired, I'm dehydrated, I'm uncomfortable, I'm stressed, I'm antsy, I'm irritable, etc.")

@@VSGAnn2014 I do all that but the walking...well I'm on my feet all day at work but that's it. I don't think about sugar too much it's mainly when it put in my face!

Ok so I'm sitting here and I REALLY want something sweet! My husband brought home Krispy Kreme's..ummm NO! My daughter is having a sleepover and they made homemade chocolate-strawberry cupcakes.....ugh! Noooooo! So of course now that I'm surrounded by sugar I want something too and NOT protein! So what do you eat that's sweet without the guilt? I've run out of ideals. I've included pictures of the hell I'm sitting in because I'm bitter!

to quickly satisfy the sweet tooth, a piece of Whitman's sugar free chocolate or Werther's Original sugar free chewy caramels. totally delish!! oh one more thing, nestle makes a sugar free frozen fruit pop, that's great to curb cravings..

@@Starting to shrink I have had those chocolate and they are delicious but my "just have one " filter gets broke and then you know what comes after eating a bag of SF candy!!! I've even tried freezing them to slow me down.

One of my very favorite treats doing low carb tastes is a pretend danish. You take a low carb tortilla (mine have 6 carbs) spread a smear of whipped cream cheese down the middle, sprinkle with Splenda if you'd like, then a smear of sugar free preserves. Raspberry was always my first choice. Roll up and microwave for about 10 seconds and you've got a tasty treat.

I might try something like this with cloud bread.< /p>

Whipped cream cheese sounds interesting - wish we had stuff like that here.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
