Waiting for approval!

Recommended Posts

Hi lotsaleg,

The waiting is very hard. You spend months getting all the tests which for me included echo, ekg, upper gi, pulimary arterial gasses , PT, abdomianal ultrasound, leg ultra sound, pap smear, chest x-ray and then you go to the specialist for approvals -cardio, psyc, pulminary, and primary care dr. And then when all of that is completed you WAIT.

So yes it is stressful. I think I have to say the serenity prayer a few times because it truely is out of my hands at this point.

Are all the test through my regular docotr? or the biaritric nurse? (spelling) I haven't had a PAP in 9 years-GRRRRRRRR I always try to avoid that one, geuee the time has come.

Thanks for responding to me, I tend to be a thread killer:)

I told you guys I didn't have patients. I called the insurance company and they said they have the paperwork and it is now pending.

The ball is rolling, I just don't know where it is headed!

lotsaleg that is just what my Dr requires yours might not require all of those things. I really dont understand why I needed a PAP but its good to go anyway I guess.

I'm playing the "weighting" game too... The nurse practitioner I'm been working with will be calling me any day now with results from my labs... I got a sneak peek today, and see I'm "pre-diabetic." I'm hoping that will expedite things...

It's normal for the group I'm working with to take 6 months... I'm going to step on some toes and try to move things along... my "group" eval in 08/07... and the team will discuss me on 08/13... hoping they'll say, "This lady is incredible... lets bump her up to the top of our list.." Wish I could be a fly on the wall to listen in... that's for sure!

I don't expect my band to be my miracle, but my new best friend... one who'll keep me on the straight and narrow....

No, they are with specialists. I guess it all depends on what your surgeon and/or insurance require.

I did my 6 month supervised diet with my PCP and she's the one that sent me to the lab for blood work.

I saw:

A cardiac doctor for the EKG/ECHO/Stress test.

A pulmonary doctor for the breathing tests and she sent me to the hospital for a chest x-ray and the sleep studies.

A shrink

A nutritionist

A gastro doctor for the Upper GI and Endoscopy

I just got paperwork from my surgeon that states I have to go to the hospital for blood work 8 days before surgery and a final physical with my PCP the following day.

It's a lot and very overwhelming.

Good luck!

Candle I am soo happy for you! That is wonderful news. Did you call or did they call you!

What a relief, now you can start getting the stuff you will need for after surgery. All that positive energy really does work.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
