Do I need a fill????

Recommended Posts

I have been having fills every 3weeks and my last fill was 7/2.I FINALLY felt some restriction with the last fill but now it seems to be fading.I definatly have to eat ALOT slower.I have never Pb'd but I do get the stuck feeling sometimes. The problem is I still feel like I can eat too much (ex:Lg ceaser salad with 5 grilled shrimp,Hamburger pattie with 1/2 cup veggies) Plus anything goes down as long as I chew well..bread,rice, donuts:rolleyes, popcorn.I am walking/jogging 2 miles a day and eating lots of protein.I just want to get the maximum out of the band as possible.I have lost a decent amount but it seems to be slowing and I have done most of it on will power alone.Sorry for rambling I just feel so unsure regarding another fill.

Hi Amy,

My gut instinct (no pun intended) is that you may need another fill. Since everyone is different, it may take several adjustments before you feel adequate restriction.

Good luck!!!

Yes, you need another fill. You shouldn't be able to eat 5 shrimps with a large caesar salad. You should only be able to eat a little bit of a hamburger patty as well. Go back in until you can only eat 1/4 cup of food. Good luck.

1/4 cup of food? ? How in the world would you get enough nourishment that way?

I am glad this question was asked, b/c I find myself in the same boat. I know I definitely have restriction; but just don't think it's enough. Caesar salad is exactly what I had yesterday and today. 1/2 of the small tin from a pizzeria each day. So, 1/2 breast, plus the lettuce (and a few anchovies). I'm seeing my doctor for my 1 month follow up visit after my 2nd fill, on Thursday. At that point, I'm going to tell him that I have 'some' restriction, but can certainly eat more than 1/4 cup….more than 1 cup. Albeit slow and chewed well.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
