I am scheduled to have my surgery in November finally!

However, I'm concerned how long I'll have to be off from work. I know everyone takes a different time to go back to work and the recommended time is 2-3 weeks. And I'm not supposed to go back to work without weight lifting restrictions :(

But how long did it take y'all to actually feel "okay" post-op from pain and feeling like yourself again? (For a lack of a better way to form this question, lol)

Just curious!

Thanks for your input :)

3.5 weeks I felt more normal. The first 2 weeks are absolutely exhausting. You are getting very minimal calories and have zero energy. I had lifting restrictions until 6 weeks. I went back to work (active job) after 4 weeks.

Thanks for replying! I'm on my feet for 12 hours at least 3-4x a week and constantly moving, lifting, walking/running, and transferring patients around so that's why I'm so concerned. I'm tired as it is after a long 12 hour shift. I don't think I'll be able to go back after 1-1.5

I took off 4 weeks. I just started feeling "normal" in the 4th week.

Best of luck on your surgery.

I'm three weeks as of today and I started work two days ago. I'm exhausted. I don't think I'm ready to be working honestly. I just don't have the energy yet and I'm still trying to switch to soft foods so I have to be careful with eating. it's harder to focus on eating and getting Protein in when I'm worried about rushing around to classes and catching up on school work. Then turning around and running to work. It's just a lot.

I wish I woulda took longer off.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
