Are you taking any Omega-3's? Calcium Citrate (tabs or softgels)?

Recommended Posts

My surgeon requested I take Omega-3's that include DHA and EPA. During the first month he suggested a liquid, well I never found one that was affordable and or convenient to travel with. After the first month he said I was allowed to move over to soft-gels but all the ones I have seen are HUGE!

Same with the calcium citrate. chewables are not a financially friendly means as most need you to chew 2-4 to get the base amount and I am required 1500 mg's a day. That would be 8 chews a day at 240 a month. If the average chewable cost between 15-20 bucks for 60, that alone could cost me almost $100 a month. Yikes!

Any suggestions? Thoughts? Ideas? Insults? :)

@@Ashlegal Here's the calcium citrate I have been taking for the past 6 months. It costs $6.97 at Walmart for a 16 day supply of 500mg twice per day. 1,000mg is what mayo requires me to take as they expect me to also get Calcium from Protein shakes, milk and dairy in my diet. So if you're required to get 1,500mg then it would cost you less than $21 per month. If your local store doesn't carry it, you can order it at Walmart.com. That's what I've done if they were out in the store. It tastes like a dreamsicle (orange/vanilla) which I really like. Their website also has a $2.00 off coupon and here's the info from their website:

Lovaza, get a script and see if your insurance will cover it, if not they will certainly cover the generic version. Lovaza is fish oil on steroids. Take two softgels and toss into a blender with something, mix and enjoy.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
