Woke up one day and I was no longer a Diva!

Recommended Posts

My story... Where do I begin... October 2014 I had enough. My blood pressure was spiraling out of control and I had to do something. I went to a seminar here in Columbia, SC and was sold that the gastric bypass was what I needed to change my life. Like many others I had so many failed attempts at losing weight. I began my journey then. My insurance required 6 months of office visits and a battery of other tests as most do. My 6 months ended up being 8 months because I was unable to get a visit several months. Once I was finished my lab work came back showing I was anemic which pushed my surgery back several more months to fix the problem. I was finally submitted to my insurance company early September and got the call around Sept 28th that I was approved and my surgery date would be October 13th. My surgery went really great but I ended up staying in the hospital for 4 days as oppose to two because my sinuses started to drain and they made me really nauseous and I couldn't hold anything down. So I'm now 5 days post-op and I can't wait to get back to the old me... Oh and since the surgery my blood pressure has been normal. Go figure!!!

You went through the wringer it sounds like......but you made it !!!!!!

We had the same surgery date. Cool.

I'll bet you'll give your very best after having to go through so much to get the surgery and then have the extended hospital stay. The Diva will return. :D

Congratulations! You will be feeling like a diva again soon! Just a much thinner healthier version of yourself.

Oh, and wait until you see all the clothes that you will fit in! Sopping anywhere you like vs. stores that only carry big clothes!

Good luck!

Divas never die. At best you're in stasis, but your crown will still be waiting whenever you're ready.

Congrats!

Did I read your story right - your high bp went away within DAYS of having the surgery? If so, that's amazing (and I hope it happens to me)!

Yes it did. At first I thought they were giving me meds in the hospital, but no they weren't. Went to my post-op appointment yesterday and it's still down, so she told me not to start back. Were going to monitor it in 2 weeks when I go back. She's almost sure it will be down even more when I go back then.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
