Will I be facing hormone issues?

Recommended Posts

My surgery is October 26th.

I had a complete hysterectomy in 2013, and three years of tamoxifen before that. I thought I was done with all my hormone issues, but with the beginning of my pre-op liquid diet, I'm starting to feel as though I'm experiencing a hormonal response. So I'm thinking, the body stores estrogen in fat. I'm losing fat now, with more to come. Could there still be enough residual estrogen in my system to cause me trouble? It's not going to stop me, but forewarned is fore-armed, and my husband and son will want to know if they should be prepared to duck and cover. ;)

Yes, it does cause hormonal issues. The severity of hormone fluctuations vary from person to person. My period stopped altogether back in January (3 months post op) and put me in menopause at age 38. I have difficulty differentiating between symptoms of a depression/mood disorder and symptoms of hormone fluctuations. It all feels the same to me.

@@Pinkgirl1234 I had bilateral mastectomies with partial reconstruction 6 weeks after the hysterectomy in 2013, and I finished the reconstruction in January of this year. Thankfully, I no longer have to take anything for that!

@@Pinkgirl1234 After three years of tamoxifen, my uterus was a mess. The oncologist agreed that my best course of action was to head further trouble off by opting for the full surgery, owing to dense tissue that could mask more trouble. I didn't want to think about it any longer.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
