11 days post op still recovering normal?

Recommended Posts

I am 11 days out now since surgery. I am tolerating fluids and puree ok. But still sore and tired (moving slow soreness/pain with movement around incisions). I see others back to work after a week. There is NO WAY I could work right now. Have others experienced this also? When did you start to feel normal? Thanks

Yes, this is common. While some days were better than others, the first 5 weeks for me were painful and I had very little energy. I could hardly get down Water and the minimum Protein many days.

Into my 6th week and beyond I felt much better, was able to eat and drink, and generally felt normal.

I am in 11th week now and I feel AWESOME with lots of energy!

Hang in there!!!

It will get better.

Yes it's normal. Some of us recover quicker and easier than others, but still being sore and tired 11 days out is normal.

Oh yeah, I took 5 weeks off because I was so weak and tired. Once you hit a month you will feel better, once you hit 6 weeks you will feel great! I am almost 8 weeks out and love life :)

Give your body time to heal. It takes time. I wish I was one of the lucky ones who felt so good right after but I couldn't imagine going back to work after only a week.

I am two weeks out today and had to come back to work today. I'm still a bit sore and tired and if I had the available time off work I would have liked to take another week. I will say that the difference for me between one week out and two weeks out was a huge improvement.

I was still sore at two weeks. I took four weeks off of work and so glad that I did. I started feeling much better at the end of the third week.

Hang in there it will get better.

hello I started feeling normal after 4 weeks. However had to go back to work 3 days after surgery and moved from house 1 week after surgery. It was not easy. Now I feel normal :D I'm 7 weeks out.

I'm 11 days out too, generally feeling pretty good but am not planning to go back to work until Friday as I don't really want to drive too much this week, but I feel well enough although not sure if I'll get more tired once I'm back.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
