I received my first fill today. Come to find out there .6cc in the band already and the Nurse Practioner added 1 cc. That sounds like a lot but so far I'm doing okay. The best part was when I weighed in I'm now down 19lbs from my pre-op weight! I love my band!

Great Job Pam

You are on your way!

Be careful, take it slow when you eat cuz sometimes the fills can take sometime to kick in. My first one took a week, but my 2nd one was instant.

Guest MARLENT

:nervous Hi Everyone!

I'm so glad to have found this site... you have been so informative and helpful throughout the last couple of weeks. I was banded on Oct. 20th by Dr. Ortiz, my experience has been very positive so far. I've tried my best to follow doctor's orders, but have actually learned the ropes through all of your advice and recommendations.

I'm scheduled for my first fill Dec. 4th, does everyone receive the same amount during the first fill? My initial BMI was 37 and has dropped to 34 in almost a month (11 pounds). I feel a little restriction, but have been dealing with quite a bit of hunger lately. Is this feeling normal? Has anyone ordered/received Dr. Ortiz new book yet?

Thanks for all your help!

Marlent

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
