Advice needed how to word a request for meds. Story in comments

Recommended Posts

My family got hit with the virus. I am the last one to get it. I have to do the iV today and tommorow

Before I called them I took the left over zofran which didn't work. Then they called me in some promethazine and maybe it helped a little.

On top of this I am experiencing excruciating pain under my ribs and on both sides of the tummy. Even my back hurts.

I had a couple of dosages of pain pills and they seemed to help.

I don't want to appear drug seeking but even it was just 2-3 days of meds she gave me I would be so happy.

I haven't slept in two days. One kid threw up on our bed and comforter like it was her job.

My poor soon his a big pooping machine and we had two blow ups with them.

Sorry so long. Thanks for the advice.

Ask for what you need. I work at a drug rehab. I also go to a pain clinic and am in and out of hospitals due to chronic pain from a spinal injury. I just tell them when I need more. I've never been accused of drug seeking. It's all in our heads in my opinion.

Promethazine also known as phenergan makes most people sleepy. Did it not have that affect on you? I agree with the previous comment, you should ask for what you need for sure. Pain is what you say it is. Maybe you could call your Primary care and get some meds for sleep?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
