My surgery is in 10 days and yesterday I went to Lane Bryant and bought some tops that were a couples sizes smaller to get prepared and got so overwhelmed I started crying in the middle of the store...not because I'm scared just because of the same thing you are feeling...so happy for you!

Take a deep breath and let it out slowly.

It is so frustrating, confusing, irritating, maddening, saddening and scream inducing when we get news that can make or break our well laid out plans.

I had not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 different surgery dates before I finally had surgery. Why? Because surgeons and insurance companies have a different idea of how to "do things." Meanwhile, we don't have ANY control over what either one of them does and get stuck in the middle of a crap storm. Ugh!

My surgeon would call me with a date then a week later say "the insurance company says they need this, this and this before they'll approve it." So I'd rearrange my life to go take care of this, this and this. Then I'd get another call for another date from my surgeon. Then I'd get a call "your insurance company says they are missing notes from your PCP, they won't approve it until they have them. And you guess it, I'd take care of that and jump through another hoop, then another and always feel defeated.

But you know what? You got this. No matter what they need, request or how big the hoop (or small) they need you to jump through, you can handle it. Don't give up and don't let them take your power away. Push through and in the end, you'll come out on top.

I'm ill. I called the coordinator at surgeon's office yesterday to set time for my apt on Monday and she advised she still didn't have the actual approval! WHAT!? I immediately called insurance and they confirmed that all missing items were indeed received, but they still had some questions for the surgeon. They even said they thought a Peer to Peer would help. I was devastated so I forward info to coordinator. As usual she called saying to disregard everything that insurance co said. She had confirmed that they had everything and was going to give them until next week to accept the "reconsideration" that there was no need for a PtoP yet. We just had to wait. That she still had me tentatively for the 5th, worse case scenario the 12th. Lord, deliver me. : (

Happy Monday to me!...NOT.

First call of the day was my coordinator advising that the insurance is stating that the psych evaluation is not considered "mental clearance" ay ay ay people! For the love.

So, emailed the psych and asked her for a separate lettering that I indeed have the stinkin' mental clearance...although, I'm ABOUT to lose my mind so she better hurry before I no longer qualify! :wacko: :blink: :P

In the meantime...I'll just keep on keeping on.

EMOTIONAL?!?!? :unsure::(

I found out yesterday, I've been working on the approval since April. I've been SO anxious to get a date (insurance changing in December) and now that I have it...I keep getting all teary-eyed and actually crying when I start to think about it. :wacko:

I'm not scared about the surgery or anything like that, but it's an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Does that make sense?

Hi! So nice to meet you! It would be so nice if you would join our secret nov 2015 vsg page :) please send me a friend request and I'll get you added!

I have surgery November 9th after over a year in process. I am quite nervous and not really sure how I feel. I am worried for my children just in case.

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
