boy, i remember those days. it was really tough. They said the swelling would keep me from being hungry for at least a couple of days. I was starving!!! I have no quick cure. you just have to live with it. believe it or not after about 4 days it seemed better. I hope that's the case with you too. it is, however important that yu don't jump the gun and eat things that your Dr. doesn't want you to. Your stomach needs to heal and scar around the band and that's not going to happen properly if it has to digest things. I know that it is difficult, but in the grand scheme of things it isn't really that long.

Sorry I don't have any magic fix. I know you can do it though. If I can do it anyone can.

You might as well realize that this is going to be life for a bit. The healing phase is soooo important. It is NOT just a matter of waiting until food WILL go down, there is much more to healing than that.

Cut out ALL sugar and ALL carbs, keep your Protein up to around 60gms daily and you won't be hungry. You'll have head hunger but not stomach hunger.

I am not on ANY Protien right now... just Clear liquids, Apple juice, SF Popsicles, SF/FF Jello, crystal light... but this afternoon I heard back from teh clinic and she said to drink somePedialyte... as I have had a nasty headache yest and today...

This seems to be doing the trick as I am feeling better as I write this...

I can make it until Sunday at noon....

Julie, why do you keep telling people that they can have things they probably shouldn't? Was it yesterday you told a woman who didn't tell us what stage diet she was on that she can have anything that goes through a straw I commented that we should not tell anyone that if we don't know what diet their MD wants them on.

Now this OP tells us that her MD wants her on CLEARS until Sunday at noon and you tell her that creamy soups and "anything that fits through a straw" are okay? I just don't understand. I think for the most part you give good advice and I very much appreciate your responses to me and to others. But please stop telling people they can do something if we either don't know if they should do, or in this case, that we KNOW she shouldn't be doing.

Everyone's doc is different, and I think we all should follow our OWN surgeon's advice, unless it is blantantly irresponsible (like telling us it's okay to have steak two days after banding or something).

What helped me was getting in my Protein during those Clear Liquids days. I still do it after fills. Here is my solution:

I buy these Protein Bullets (42gr protein each; 2 = 84gr and 6.2 oz) and mix 2 in 16oz bottle add Water to top -- they count as clear liquid, don't taste bad when dilluted either. Each day your goal is to get this 16oz bottle in (you have meet your protein goal)-- then you can have anything else you desire that you are allowed.

************************************

go to: your local Vitamin shoppe or http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/search/...intsource=main or call them at 1-800-223-1216.

$29.99 for 12 of the 42 gram bullets -- I use 2 a day. I put the 2 of them in a 16oz water bottle - add Water to the top and drink a third at B-L-D.

I have a coupon -- that the website didn't recognize but I called them and they did honor it -- "Save $10 on any purchase of $50 or more" promo code VSC-3123 -- received it from my doctor's office - it also is a "Supplement and Grocery list for Gastric Bypass Patients." (Feel free to use it as well!)

*************************************

Let me know how this goes!

I have done this coming home from surgery on the 4-9 for 2 weeks - and don't feel tired or any other side effects --I know do only 1 in 1/2 bottle for Breakfast each morning. I drink this then concentrate on getting additional 64oz plus of crystal light -- and such.

Yep, what Faith said. There is a VERY good reason for clears and that part of the diet is extremely important if the person wants the band to stay put.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
