From the day of your consultation to the day of surgery how long did it take? Feeling anxious as my surgeon was very vague on the whole surgery part

I had my consult in early June of 2014 & they wanted to schedule surgery in September 2014 but I waited until October. I have an HMO, the approval process with them was very quick. However, my surgeon required a 3 month pre-op program.

Ok, it blocked out the type of insurance I carry. Not sure why?

Depends on you're current Heath and what the insurance company says. Most insurance companies require a 6 month monitored weight loss program. Medicare usually requires a 3 month program and most every bariatric centers have requirements.

8 weeks from first consult to surgery.

A lot of insurance companies dropped the requirements this year.

If you have to do a lot of pre-op testing and you have a job, scheduling those things can be an issue.

I think a lot of it depends on your insurance. I've heard that some want you to diet for 6 months first

but for me, my consult was in the beginning of June and my surgery was scheduled for August 25, but then got moved a week later to Sept 2. I'm currently out of work so I was able to schedule all my doctors and tests very quick

Just finished my steps to success class, one step closer and even more nervous. I feel kind of scared, just needed to share what I was feeling with someone who understands.

January 26 was first consult. They told me to expect about 5 months until surgery because I had a 3 month per-op diet requirement. Surgery was on June 4.

My first consult was July 15th 2015 and my surgery date is October 12th 2015. My insurance does require a six month diet but my BMI was over 50 so the waived it.

It varies depending on health status, insurance requirement and program requirement. My first appointment with the surgeon was in June. I received my approval letter in August. I had surgery in September.

Mine was supposed to be 6 months and 2 weeks. But I procrastinated getting my Endoscopy and just got it - and they had to postpone surgery because I have ulcers. Ugh. Get all your stuff done in the beginning...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
