How many of you still have shoulder pain?

Recommended Posts

Just curious how many of you still have shoulder pain. If you do have you figured out what causes it? I had my band put in over a year ago and I still get shoulder pain from gas I guess. It is my only complaint. It is so bad sometimes that I can hardly move. I have tried all the over the counter stuff and nothing works. Actually the only thing that has ever helped is pain killers left over from my surgery. But I dont want to keep taking that all the time. Just wanted to know if this is a common complaint. What do you think?

I had my surgery on January 4, 2007. That excruciating pain lasted for a couple of months, then went away completely. That pain was blinding, but I did find relief with a hot water bottle or heating pad.

I still have the shoulder pain at 5 months, but I only notice mine when I am SUPER hungry. If I don't eat for hours, simply because I forget, then it really comes on. That is the only time I experience it though. I can eat and immediately it goes away...WEIRD.

Do you get it at various times or anything that you can figure out triggers it? I know it is a real PAIN.

I usually get it around my time of the month for some reason and it lasts for about 7 days. I just cant figure out what is causing it. I have tried to wake up in the morning and not eat to see if food is causing it. But nothing yet. I asked my Dr and they acted a little surprised that I still get it. But it is deffinitly there.

I'm just going to throw this out there...

A friend of mine had severe problems during TOM. Her LEFT shoulder hurt so bad she couldn't sit or lay in bed. One night she called me and the pain was so bad she was in a hotel leaning against a wall because even sitting was horrible. It was shoulder pain.

She went to several docs and nobody could figure out what it was. It only happened during TOM. She went to Mexico to our band surgeon and he removed her gallbladder. Problem totally solved.

Now ya'll have me worried. I woke up 2 days ago and thought I had a crick in my neck. Wasn't too bad and I went to Water aerobics but when nighttime arrived, it got worse. I took a painpill(yessss,,leftover from surgery)and went to bed. Had a toss and turn night. Woke up with a sharp stabbing pain up at teh top of my upper arm(above my smallpox vaccination, for all us older folks)Is this the type pain ya'll are talking about?? I have no insurance and cant afford to have my gall bladder removed, so I'm hoping I just slept on it wopsided,,lol.

I still have "gas" pain in my shoulder nearly everyday after having surgery on May 24th. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to when it happens. It has happened on a full stomach, empty stomach, or after having had only Water. Gas-X strips help some but doesn't completely control it. Has anyone else had this for this long after surgery? Any ideas on what to do?

So far I've had my band a week and I do get it daily when my stomach is irritated. Like if I eat too much, I know immediately. (I eat mushies). If I drink too much, I know. If I haven't eaten, I know. I believe the transferred pain thing but I hope I can figure out how to avoid it! :cry

I also get left shoulder pain and I'm 4 months out. I normally get it when I sit a certain way. I just got my 2nd fill today and I've had it ever since, it won't go away. Along with a pain/pressure in my mid-chest area-between my boobs. Anyone know what that could be from?

My shoulder pain has been awful all day long today. No matter what I do, it hurts. I read alot of articles online about bariatric surgery and left shoulder pain and it appears that it is a fairly common problem. Diaphram nerves irritated/injured and referred pain to the left shoulder. None of the articles gave any indication of how long the pain will last, what to do to aleviate it,,nothing. Just says 'it happens'. PFFFFT

I had the shoulder pain from the gas from my appendectomy for about 8 years off and on. Then one day, it just went away and never came back.

Interestingly though, now that I saw your post, it was after my galbladder came out. Hmmm....

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
