If anyone is interested, there is a December 2015 support group on Facebook. I'm not the founder or an admin, but we have a great group of people right now. The group is "closed" or maybe "secret" but just message me here and I'll send you the link if you like.

@@cocoa8utter, Congratulations! My surgeon doesn't work past December 16th or so. So if my insurance snags, I could be pushed into next year.

Speaking of, My decision should be coming down this week...since surgery is next week!

I'm having gastric bypass at the end of December - December 29th. I'm really nervous about being on my pre Op diet for Christmas, but I've enjoyed too much food every other Christmas so I hope it'll be just fine. I'm glad I won't have to recover and miss Christmas so the 29th is awesome. Best. Gift. Ever.

@@cocoa8utter Welcome! What a great Christmas present :)

@ I hope you get the decision soon!! The anticipation is the worst.

@@cookarue I got permission to eat some at Thanksgiving during my liquid pre-op, but it's a slippery slope for me and I ate the next day and a bit the next... Really bad - I have poor self control with food but yesterday and today have been Clear liquids and I've been good. Ready for surgery tomorrow!

I am still trying to navigate this platform. It's not easy to simply reply to a post, is it? I ordered my bariatric Vitamins and Protein from unjury.com

I find it hard to contain myself with eating right now, this mindset of "just one last pizza", "just my last chicken wings" etc is so stupid, can't wait for my pre-op diet to start.

Cocoa8utter I totally get that "one last"! Well, I just had my one last slice of cake. It was the teensiest peice of cake I could cut. My coworkers were having a farewell party for one of the interns. But I swear that really is my last peice of cake. I actually feel really guilty about it now and wish I had not eaten it.

To Amy n Cocoa...a little advice from a sleever who'll revise to gbp Friday, Lord willing. Don't think of anything as"one last", bc if you do, you'll only want it more. It's not like you'll never eat it again, itll just be "one last" time that it'll be that much of it in one sitting. The mind can be an ugly thing with the tricks it can play but we are in control of those thoughts and too can play tricks back. So keep telling yourselves, it's a life style change starting with smaller amounts, not zero amounts. I hope that made sense, im on my 10 day liq preop and my mind says give it a rest:)). But gl and know that IT'S THE LAST BIG PIECE of whatever, not the last piece; ). Gl

@@cocoa8utter I had a "food funeral" for about a month and a half but amazingly I didn't gain or lose weight. I think it's because I kind of starved myself and binged on all the sh** I knew I'd miss. Horrible pattern, I know, but it's over now!!!

@@DeezJeanz Best wishes on your surgery today!!!!!!!!! I hope you have good pain meds and get some great rest! Don't forget to walk when they allow you to. :)

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
