Under 30 when you had WLS?

Recommended Posts

Hey, I was wondering if anyone around my age could give info on skin. If you had WLS under 30, and preferably had no kids but needed to lose 100-120 lbs, how did your skin hold up to the weight loss?

Thanks!

I had it on my 31st birthday, and was about 130 lbs overweight on the first day of pre-op. I am beginning to see some loose, saggy skin in the abdominal area, but not really anywhere else, and this might be attributable to the drain site. I am 60 lbs down at 6 weeks out, so I'll update this thread once more happens.

I'll be 30 when I have my surgery in November. I have about 140 to lose. So we will see.

When I was 26 (I always had two kids) I lost about 100 pounds without wls, I did not have any loose skin. I am now 30 and scheduled for October 21st. I need to lose about 120 lbs. I'm really hoping I don't get loose skin this time around. But I'm kinda preparing myself for it bc it will be a rapid weight loss.

I want to lose fast, but I'm okay with losing slower if it minimizes loose skin.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
