Why don't I feel like I am going to be one

Recommended Posts

Of you who have lost so much weight and are at goal?

I am only a month out and already stalled (for a week and a half).

I have a hard time believing that I am going to be successful at losing this weight.

It still feels like an unattainable goal.

I have been chasing it for so long only to be disappointed.

I am almost afraid to believe it's going to happen.

Just a random blurt...

@@cbruce125, I completely understand your dilemma. I'm already getting discouraged that I am not losing as fast as I thought I would. I keep telling myself that slower is actually better, but it's so frustrating!

You are experiencing the three week stall. Virtually everyone experiences this, including everyone who got to their goal weight. Don't believe me? Use the forum search function and search for "three week stall." Or just use Google and search for VSG three week stall. You aren't doing anything wrong, your body is not destined to be obese forever. Keep your chin up and keep working your program. I promise you, the weight will start coming off again.

I felt like that the entire time. I stalled for a few weeks a few different times. You just keep on keepin' on and one day you wake up, you get on the scale, and you're at goal. Time passes no matter what you do, so if you stick to the plan, inevitably you should get to where you are going.

I once was told that when you are trying to adopt a new habit (or break an old one!) to be aware of the dreaded 3's. That is, you will have self doubt and discouragement at day 3, week 3, month 3, and then year 3. I have found that this is so true. Unfortunately for you, the DWTS (dreaded week three stall) exactly coincides with the Dreaded 3's-wait it out...week 4 is coming!

I know where you're coming from.

I freaked out everytime I had a stall.

I'd be thinking, "Is this it? Is this all I'm going to lose?"

But I stuck to my walking and diet plan.

And eventually, the weight would start falling off again.

It took me almost a year to lose the fear of a stall.

And it took that long from me to gain the confidence that, if it was working before, just stick with it, it will work again.

Weight loss is not a steady downward trend, there are times when your body has to take a time-out and adjust to its new way of living.

Hang in there, it does get better. Stick to your diet and exercise program and the weight will start dropping again. I promise! :-)

Everytime you tell yourself you're a failure, you're meditating about failing.

I think it is critical for each of us to stop with the negative self-talk.

You can retrain your thoughts. Start telling yourself how well you're doing.

I'm serious.

Try it.

Thanks all!

It's hard being all in my head some days!

I just have a hard time believing that I will FINALLY reach my goal some day.

I have been the same weight for 11 days now.
While I understand there will be stalls, it's awfully discouraging.

I don't think I am doing anything "wrong"

I am getting 50+ g of Protein a day
Am staying at about 500-600 calories

and averaging 25-35 carbs

My fluids is a little low ( about 32 -40 ounces a day)

So I guess I just wait it out. Sucks though!

My week 3 stall became a 3 week stall! I lost 27 lbs in the month of May and then exactly 2 lbs in the month of June. Since then between 15-20 lbs and now about 25 lbs from goal weight. Don't worry about it. If you follow the instruction manual, it will happen.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
