Hey Maysters! Thanks for starting a thread here for us Myra!

Myra- I am sooo sorry to hear about your second slip. I pray that and KNOW that everything works out for you!

Duckie - Looking great woman! See, the south agrees with you! You need to spend more time down here!

Drews - How is it going? Hope you are losing again.

I'm stuck around 192 right now... got a fill scheduled for the end of the month. I was hoping that I would continue to lose without another fill, but I have noticed my portion sizes increasing a little. I'm off to the beach in August, so I want to look good! Wish me luck!

As always, best of luck to all you Maysters! We have done a wonderful job in the last year. Keep the faith and move that butt! Don't forget the water!

Yeah! I'm here! Now lets hope all the other great Maysters make it.

Oh, Kim, I was stuck around 190-194 for MONTHS! I refused to get another fill, so I just started to move more. Then Poof! another 4 lbs, gone.

So hang in there! Drink your water!

Thanks Duckie! I have to admit that I have slacked off a little on my Water the last couple of days(I probably only got about 50 ounces in yesterday). I am back to 100 ounces today though and I am exercising EVERY day. Tonight its 1 hour cardio, 1 hour weights and then I'm gonna walk a couple of miles with my friends. Depending on how late it gets, I might swim some laps at home. Hopefully the scale will budge soon.

Well went to my PCP today and we agreed that I do need to seek a second opinion about my lapband journey.

So I am supposed to see my surgeon in August and I think after that I will go see another bariatric surgeon.

Now I finally got an answer to a puzzling two questions. About a year ago I had trouble being able to open my right hand in the mornings after I would sleep. Sometimes I couldn't get my middle finger to extend and would have to use my other hand to straighten my finger out. I found out today I have "trigger hand" and it apparently runs in families. Didn't know that.

Secondly, my right shoulder has had soreness for years. Especially when I do moderate physical work. Now I am right handed and I just thought it was age and overworking that joint. Come to find out I probably have a rotator cuff tear. Wow after my PCP told me what he suspected I came home and researched it. The first information I ran across said it was a common injury for archers and painters. I shot competitive archery for years and have been working on opening my own painting business the last couple of years.

Wow I am glad to know that there are logical explantions for these very annoying little things.

I go to a decorative painting seminar in a couple of weeks and then after that I am probably going to go see an orthopedic specialist and decide what to do with my shoulder.

Last week I put together an entertainment center and my shoulder has been real sore. Sore enough that it hurts to raise my arm and wave at someone.

So wow, I just passed it off as age related.

Things are so much clearer now.:P

Why can't I just start over with a new body say like Lindsey Lohan. I mean is that too much to ask really?:faint:

Oh, Myra! I wish I could just have a body transplant, too!

We went out on the bikes this weeked and put about 500 miles on the bikes. I'm down to 182.5 as of yesterday, too. I think the hot weather has something to do with it since I'm drinking a whole lot more and not hardly eating. And riding the bikes is harder than it would seem. My body is sore and my butt ACHES! But it was a nice weekend to go out and ride.

Hope everyone else's weekend was a good one!

Long time, no talk friends. Let me rephrase to say SKINNY friends. Just reading your updates make me smile. Myra, so sorry your having so much trouble. Big hugs & prayers to you!

Well, we are pretty much settled in OK and we are loving it. Can't say we are much thinner b/c it's been hard to eat right when surrounded by moving boxes. 3Loves had a fill before we left IN and she needs an unfill. Can't seem to get hard Proteins down and living off of things that are band friendly yet not so healthy.

Well, I'm off to do some more reading to catch up on things. Coming to this thread is like coming home. I miss ya'll.....as they say here in OK.

Wow Paladin! Great to hear from you. I'm so happy that your move went well and that you guys like Oklahoma. Wow! I won't be the only one on this thread that says ya'll! That is an added bonus. Tell Michelle hello for me! Tell her to get that unfill! This band is awesome when you have good restriction but I'm sure its miserable being too tight. Best of luck ya'll and keep posting! BTW guys - I AM NO LONGER OBESE (despite what my ticker says) I AM OFFICIALLY "OVERWEIGHT" !!! Wahooo! I am actually 5' 6 & 3/4 ", but I always put 5'6" in the tickerfactory ticker maker. It says my BMI is 30.3, but with that extra 3/4" its really 29.88!! Overweight, Overweight, I'm just Overweight!

Hi Kim ~ How ya'll doing over your way? I guess when you grow up with parents that say tager instead of tiger and tare instead of tire, ya'll is just part of life. Hey, have you ever been to a doins'? That's what we call a potluck. :biggrin1:

Holy cow girl....a BMI under 30?!! :) I bet it feels so good. We are very proud of you and the hard work you've out into yourself. Overweight sounds so much better than obese. :)

Where oh where is Myra.....and the others?

Wow...it's was 2/02/07 when I last checked in here.....that's waaayyy to long! (but I sure had a lot of valid, crazy reasons)

For those that remember me....I was banded on 5/23/06.....then 10 days later was hospitalized with a viral pericarditis (heart imflamation)....a month after that (July 5,06)...was back in the hospital having open chest surgery to remove the pericardium membrane from my heart...(I rapidly developed constrictive/restrictive pericarditis)

That surgery resulted in two strokes...right and left arms...(it doesn't end there!)...

They went to investigate the stroke damage and it was a jaw-dropping discovery of a rare life threatening condition called Moyamoya. My both coratid arteries of the brain had completely closed! The little collateral vessels were all swollen and trying hard to bring blood oxygen up to the brain but they were a mega hemmoraging risk waiting to burst. My diagnosis was so very rare (1 in 2 million) that not many docs had any knowledge on how to handle it. I found an expert in California and flew out in August 06 for double brain bypass surgeries! ...and it was life saving! Meanwhile....my lapband of May was put on the back burner......steriods were now on my meds list (reduce brain swelling) and well....steriod wt gain.Yuck

My very first lap band fill was Jan 07 and I have now lost about 25 lbs. Not much....I wish it were a bit more....but I have been known to cheat with icecream (slapping myself).

I went to the docs for 5 yrs with dizzyness and headaches....they told me I had apnea, fibromyalgia and Migraines. Yeah right....and little lack of blood flow that went misdx'ed too! I had the lapband placed to solve my apnea problem, hoping it would improve my health issues...as that was the only valid dx that I actually had. Well......in a way.....you can say....(God) via the lapband literally saved my life! The lapband surgery was most likely the trigger that caused the pericarditis. I was absolutely Blessed in every sense!

I am happy to say that I am doing quite well now......pretty much managing every normal event....and driving etc.... just I still tire out a bit quicker. My family is all well.....my house is still on the market (that is a stress that I would like to change soon) always showings....but no offers! So life is normal. I do miss coming in here.....I have been so busy just trying to keep things running in my home that any spare time....I usually try to take a rest!

Now 3loves.... YOU are someone that I truly miss....I see your hubby has posted and that you have had some major events in your life! I hope all good! You and Myra were there for me....I so much appreciate that and will always hold that dear. (Myra I sent you a PM before seeing this thread)

For all my other May 06 bandsters.....I sure hope you have had great success with over a year passing! You are all in my heart......I hope to jump in a wee bit more often! I came in today to re-energize and re-focus....now that I must get more serious!!! Wish me luck shrinking!

hugs to all ... Diane : )

WOW Diane! Since you have had practically nothing major going on in your life in the last year or so, I have to say that I am so disappointed in your lack of posts.:faint:

:omg: All kidding aside, I am soooo happy that your lapband surgery led you and your docs down the road to the diagnosis of your medical condition. A big hug and congrats for coming through all this with such a great attitude. I am soo happy that you are feeling well and I admire your positive attitude. Congrats on losing the 25lbs!! Please keep posting!

Hey Paladin! Thanks, I'm fine. 3loves got that unfill yet?

I have to admit that I had my first binge in a year and a half (almost) last night.. I ate practically an entire pint of Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Cup ice cream. I already have a weekness for Peanut Butter cups, put it in ice cream and I'm hopeless. I'm not beating myself up over it, though. I could give excuses (T.O.M. and turning 36 years old a couple of days agao), but ya know, who cares? So I pigged out on ice cream.. big deal. I have to stop worrying that eating (2400 calories) on ONE day(normally I average 1300) will make me gain back the 130 pounds that I've lost. I think that I see any slip-up as the beginning of the end... I gotta work on this. But like I said, I'm not beating myself up too bad over it.... I immediatley went out and walked about 4 miles at the track and felt better about it. Anyone else have something like this happen?

I am wearing a pedometer today to see how many steps and calories I take a day.. so far I've only taken 2131 steps and it is 12:30... gotta get moving. I think we are supposed to get at least 10,000 in a day. I'm sure I'll make up for it when I work out tonight... I'm gonna try to do at least 10,000 EVERY DAY. I'll let you guys know how this works for me. Have a great day Maysters!

Kim2be....simply wonderful!!!!!!

Amazing...you have lost 130 lbs already! That is just super work. And I can see you ARE doing the work involved for success. I feel ashamed that I am so casual over here!

Hey....let's move past my health drama....that is really old and boring news. It's now time to get back into life and with you guys and start my catching up!!!!

NO LOOKING BACK ANYMORE

big hugs....Diane : )

Oh and Happy Birthday to Ya !!!!!

Drews you are looking great! Keep up the hard work sister!

Thanks Diane, you are soo sweet! I agree no more lingering in the past.

So, are you guys exercising? I wore my pedometer yesterday and got in about 11,000 steps. WOW! I didn't realize how much movement was required to hit 10,000. I walked on the treadmill for 45 minutes (3.8 mph at 7% incline) and did the stairmaster for 15 minutes and barely got 11,000. My goal is to get 10,000 in daily... I found myself stepping in place while folding laundry last night... I think my dog thought I was nuts, she kept looking down at my feet. I'll keep you guys posted on this new movement endevour.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
