WAY TO GO GIRL!!!! You are just right!..To still lose slowly and be able to eat healthy is perfect!. This was the goal you wanted to obtain. That perfect fill..not too tight or too loose! This is the point that I am and am maintaining the 95 lb loss!. Congrats to you and to everyone else!

nmgrl, I think you should stay where you are. If you're only 20 lbs from goal and you're still slowly losing, I think that's just perfect. You want to keep a healthy band long term and you don't want to get too tight over 20 lbs. Kick up the exercise instead if you need a boost. Congratulations on your successes!

I am where you are, but I am going in for a fill. I am not comfortable because I am getting HUNGRY, I think that is what should count the most when considering a fill, not whether you are loosing! I have learned my body holds onto fat and then all of the suddenly drops alot.

Good luck to you!

I am two years out and have like 60 lbs to go. I am a very slow loser. Due to being a self pay I can't afford my fills on time. The best thing is I havnt gained. My son in law just introduced me to this stuff called Zylene. It helps with appetite doesnt have ephederine or caffeine in it. I was worried about taking it cause I have high blood pressure. So I brought it to my doc and he said it was good. I am very excited . Been taking it for just two days. I have 4 daughters and each of them lost lbs on it. So I am praying I will too! I need the extra boost. I will let you know how this works on me . I trust my kids so I signed up to get it for less. Here is the site its on

Rather than taking diet pills, I would look at what I am eating, and what exercise I am doing, and maybe kick the exercise up a notch. It's way cheaper than pills!

Congrats on your loss to date.

Thanks Chickie,

I eat only meat that is what our dr requires til u get to goal. And I eat like maybe 3 to 4 oz's. Dr had me write everything down for a week. And said I was doing great. That we are like autos some run on more gas. I am the lesser. Very slow metabolism. The pill I chose is not a diet pill. It is certain Vitamins and minerals that help move things. And I dont have to purchase my prenatal vitamins with this. It has more in it. So I am trying it. My son in law works with drs and doesnt believe in diet stuff. I trust him.

Only meat? No fooling? Really? No veggies, no carbs, nothing apart from meat?

Please. Get a second opinion. Eating only meat is very, very unhealthy. People need vegetables and carbs to live. It is far too easy to become malnourished on a diet that consists only of meat.

My dr is E Rehnke . He is the top surgeon in Florida. I take certain Vitamins and I have blood tests taken all the time. I have no problems at all. Except for at the end its slowing down the weightloss like everyone else I know.

If I add veggies and or carbs I wouldnt have lost 96 lbs. I use supplements to replace the neccessary nutrients. Once I get to my goal I will add veggies and carbs to my diet.

Every one goes by what there doc tells them.

He's the "top" surgeon in Florida? Says who?

I have a hunch a number of other surgeons in FL might not agree with that assessment. I always wonder who assigns these docs "top" or "leading" titles. Nobody ever seems to know. Isn't that kinda like me claiming I'm the "top" or the "leading" nurse in Arizona? I mean, does that title really hold any Water? I don't think it does but maybe I'm wrong.

An only "meat" diet pretty much goes against what the band is all about. Teaching you better and healthier food habits, etc. Perhaps you wouldn't have lost 96# on a healthy diet but everyone else around here that has lost as much or more weight was very capable of doing so using a healthy diet vs. a high fat, high cholesterol, high Protein, zero carb diet. I thought I limited carbs... man, my diet is full of carbs in comparison to yours.

Chickie... were you able to lose any weight if you ate anything other than meat? Boo Boo Kitty, what about you? Julie? NMGirl?

I agree that eating just meat goes beyond what the band is all about. What is the point to be banded if you are not learning a new lifestyle?

I am sorry I am not one to disagree with any Dr, but I do in this case. As for carbs, they are not all bad. They are actually NEEDED in every diet. Carbs=Calories=Energy=Weight Loss. Carbs are not just breads and pastas, they are fruits, veggies and more.

I am glad it is working for you, truly. But is sounds completely opposite to what the band is all about. It goes against everything I have been taught. And I think I am doing damn good.

If I only ate meat, I would be dead. I rarely eat meat! Soy, tofu is good. Meat just really isn't my thing! Otherwise I eat whatever I want. I diet of just meat is just gross to me...lol....

As for adding veggie and such, I challenge you to think about if you HAD them where you would be at! I see eating only meat as dangerous and haphazzard crash dieting, not the band.

Also I was wondering how do you get through the clear liquids stage or the mushies only with meat?

Good question, how is that done?

BTW, if you really are on an all meat diet please let your doc know and ask about TUMS. Some docs suggest 1gm TUMS twice daily while in ketosis as it can balance the acids out. Some docs suggest being on TUMS from days 1-10 for every 30 days in ketosis. Might want to see how your doc feels about this.

Oh no, please do not get so upset, we are not trying to be mean. I think we completely misunderstood you when you said your Dr's diet is just meat. I looked over the site and I do see that everyone there eats more than just meat. I think you are doing what works for you, which is against our norm.

We are concerned and want to make sure you are healthy! Do not take such offense to our concern!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
