I had mine on August 14th. Down 41 lbs since surgery. Down 2 pants sizes and I am losing my hair by the handful. My weight loss has slowed this month to about a pound every 12 days.

Hi all, well an update on me - i've lost 53 since pre op diet can't be bothered to calculate from surgery date! I'm averaging 1kg a week which is 2.2 lbs - sometimes nothing something more but normally around that.

My wins :

I'm well over half way to goal,

I have just about dropped 2 pants sizes,

I bought my first woman fit t-shirt yesterday for the first time in years as i normally just wear my husbands baggy casts offs :)

I also bought a couple of bras that fit properly - until i got them i hadn't realized how baggy and unsupportive my old ones were!

I can finally see the changes in the mirror- more so with clothes on than off still look very blobby with them off!

I have more confidence - i don't feel like everyone stares at what a fatty on a motorbike, and have started getting changed in front of my husband where as before i'd hide or do it in the dark.

I'm much more active and thanks to my wrist pedometer hitting goal steps most days.

I've enjoyed buying a couple of pieces of clothing i actually like and not just what fits and doesn't look overly hideous - i'm just boarding on "normal" sizes

My Difficulties:

Hair loss has been going on a few weeks now and i have thin hair already so not ideal.

Multi Vitamins make me vomit, it's hard to get them in i try a quarter of a chewable one at each meal but still makes me queasy.

So yes wins outweigh the difficulties :)

Anyone other August Sleevers want to share their wins and issues?

I started this post, and I am blown away at the amount some of you have lost! Way to go! I am doing ok. I have lost 40.6. I am still REALLY struggling with taking the chews, or chewable vitamins, and drinking the Calcium. I am wondering when I can start on pills or capsules for that. I seem to never get my water/liquid in. I really miss my diet cokes, has anyone went back to that? I am doing ok with the Protein. food is still difficult at times. I do not regret having my surgery, but sometimes I miss the enjoyment of sitting down to a meal. I guess that is just part of it. Proud of the lbs coming off though!

Sherri, I had my surgery on 8/17 and did well with capsules after a month. One of my regular meds had been a timed telease cap and dr put me on two doses a day of the pill form. It did not work as well so after a month I went back to the old capsule and have had no problems.

I was a HEAVY Diet Coke drinker - 4-5 cans a day. I drink Crustal Lights now for most of my liquids. I can't say that I really miss the DIet Coke, but I am sure I could get hooked again and FAST!! I am going to try and stay off any carbonated drinks as the dr told me to do. It just is not good for anyone.

I'm down 50 lbs since 8/31 - just hit onderland!

best non scale victory was today - walked into nordstrom's for a dress for a gala we are attending on saturday and shopped in the regular sized section and had OPTIONS for the first time in 15 years. it wasn't a matter of what fit and covered me but a matter of what i loved the most!!

Hi, my name is Theresa. Had my sleeve on Aug. 21, 15..I was a nervous wreak. I had been on several diets to no avail. I had several strokes and had to take a lot of meds; so help contrition to weight gain. I was disabled for about a year. Bed exercises etc. I just tried all any fad to get rid of the pounds. Unfortunately, I had no self esteem, no energy and felt total defeated and ashamed. I was asked to go see Dr. Barnett to see options were open to me..A year later, I was on my way. SW 250 CW 216...I am losing very slow. Approx. 1.5 pds per week. Any insight would be appreciated. I must be doing something wrong. Thank you for help and feedback.........losing, just slow

Hello to all, and congratulations on your weight loss!

I was sleeved back on August 3rd, and since then have lost 50 lbs post-surgery, 58lbs since starting this journey in April of this year. I am eating fairly well and healthy, take all required Vitamins. I am happy about the weight loss but I am also going through rapid and noticeable Hair loss. I thought the Biotin 10,000 mcg/daily tabs would help but they haven't been helping me much. I havent been to the gym in order to maximize weight loss but that is on my list of goals for the next few weeks.

Thanks for reading and for your responses! Much continueed success to you all on your weight loss journey.

Warm regards,

Luckystar

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
