Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

Recommended Posts

I'm the opposite. My extreme diarrhea and dehydration may be from lactose intolerance. Was anyone told to stop dairy? Most Protein is milk based.

Trader joes has one 30g of protein per serving they have unflavored and vanilla. It is soy based

Very interesting. So was my husband who had the sleeve 4 years ago. With the 5 million rules that I was given, I can't believe that one was left out. ????

Thanks. This summer I fell in love with Vega One which has veggie protein. Have tubs in every flavor.

(My huge stock pile of supplies is definitely coming in handy. It's all by my bed and drives my hubby nuts.)

I'm also at a stand still. In fact the scale moved up 3 pounds but I blame it on Water that I'm drinking. I know I'm not going over my 600 calorie intake, do not sure what is going. I'm 3 weeks out since surgery and at 13 lost.

I am at a month post-op. I was stalled and my NUT told me I should trying to get 850-1000 calories a day. If I upped them, I would probably start losing again. I did and I did! Might want to eat just a little more if possible.

Think I'm getting crabby too. I'm also back to taking a laxative, which I don't understand. Everything was working fine until last week. I also can't seem to get full. I'm a hot mess. Lol

I feel ya… just when i think i have things down pat, i get thrown for a loop, lol… I'm currently stressing on the lack of variety in my foods. I am able to eat all foods and feel like i am always rushing and just grabbing the same ol things :( not good long term…

I had a nasty taste in my mouth from about 3 days after surgery until I got moved to puréed foods on Monday. It has now gone away completely. It really made it hard to down those Protein Shakes and I even went a whole day without Protein because I was so sick. I was drinking Premeir shakes - which were fine before surgery, but switched over to Unjury unflavored powder and mixed it in my Soups. That got me through until I could try different puréed foods. Hopefully you can find some alternate ways to get around that sick feeling so you won't end up in the hospital. At my 2 week post op my doctor told me that bad smell and taste would go away. Two days later it is gone.

I agree with the other posters, though....it sure wouldn't hurt to call the office if you can't get anything down. Could get sick pretty quickly.

I called the doctor he was not in nor was my advocate. I'm going to the hospital now the nausea is getting worse and I'm feeling weak.

hoping for the best…

Dehydration sounds scary and it's a good reminder to us all to sip sip sip.

My stall is done I hope. Down a lb today. I'll take it. One thing I'm wondering is if any other 2 week post-ops are breaking out? My skin is terrible!

I usually have oily skin, but my face and neck are dry and itchy. I get in my Protein daily, stay hydrated and even take Biotin, but everything is out of whack, I guess... I'm a month out tomorrow...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
