I finally got my surgery date! Support for October sleevers are welcome ????

I finally got my surgery date! it's such a bitter sweet time for me. I waited for so long for it and now it's on paper and very real. I'm very much so in nesting mode... shopping and prepping have become a huge deal to me and at the same time a bit overwhelming W so many choices to make (in reference to pre-op diet). I am very excited and I hope there will be others to share this journey with since my surgery is October 28th ???? I would luv a buddy to share and exchange information and suggestions with. My surgeon is Dr. Shirwinter from Memonides Hospital in Borough Park Brooklyn, NY. Looking forward to the new journey!

Congrats on receiving your surgery date. That's so exciting and nerve racking all at the same time. I had my last pre-op visit today and now I'm just waiting on the surgery scheduler in my doctors office to call me. She's already scheduling for October so I'm assuming my surgery will be sometime then.

Oct 14 for me. I started this journey in Dec 2014. Been a long time, but my final consult with the NUT is on 24 September, and pre op diet begins 29 September. Best wishes to all of you!

I am very excited! My surgery was scheduled for October 19th.

The hospital where I am going to have my procedure done requires a 10 day liquid fast prior to surgery . This ensures that the liver will shrink and not obstruct the surgical tools.

I start the 10 day liquid fast using prescribed Opti-Fast drinks on October 9th.

I am a little bit nervous about everything.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
