Afraid to weigh

Recommended Posts

Back in mid-August I was pretty sick and couldn't drink or eat much. I lost 10 lbs in six days. The next week I went on vacation and I was so excited not to be sick, that I wasn't stringent with my diet. Still hit my Protein and Water goals, but had a bite here and there of the not so good "vacation" food (okay, several bites lol). Now I'm back to work and I've been on the straight and narrow, following my plan. My dilemma is that I always weigh myself on the 6th of the month since that's my monthly surgery anniversary. Do I weigh in on Sunday and possibly get discouraged? It won't affect my eating either way. I've learned not to reward/punish myself with food. But knowing that I probably gained a couple pounds back after my illness (I'm sure part of the 10 lbs was Water weight), I kind of just want to focus on eating right and exercising. But I don't want to miss my five-month weight check and I may die of curiosity before October 6 comes around! What would you do? The monthly weigh in is just something I like to do, not a dr visit or anything.

I weigh myself weekly and there have been times I was afraid to face the scale, but I say get on there and just do it. Stay accountable. Don't wait another month. Just my two cents.

Just weigh. Your month will be reflective of the rest of you life.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
