OMG Is this really happening?

Recommended Posts

I have my surgery on Wednesday and I'm excited and scared - I'm trying to make sure I have everything in order - but my nerves are getting the best of me!

I'm so scared of the pain/nausea that might occur after surgery - I hate throwing up so I'm super scared about that!

I'm just freaked out - and I'm trying to calm my nerves but it seems really hard! I want to do this - I have felt great during my pre-op lost 10 pounds so far! I'm just hyping myself up right?

Anyone else have these thoughts/fears?

How long did you have pain/nausea?

Any advice that made your recovery period easier I'm all willing to listen! Thanks again for all your support!!

@@Jennifer Cunningham - I'm glad you are freaking out. That's a good sign. It means you are taking this seriously and considered the implications. I lost enough pre-op that I wondered, why am I doing this? But the results were worth it. This is a long term investment in yourself. I hope it changes your life as much as it did mine.

I was scared of the dreaded "gas pains". However, I experienced nothing. There was only soreness in my belly, as if someone had punched me. The only painful part for me was when they removed the drain. When they removed it my entire abdomen cramped up something fierce. I only had a very small amount of nausea just once. They do a good job of giving you medicine to prevent it.

Honestly, the gastric sleeve surgery is a breeze. It's the plastic surgery afterward that's going to be the most painful surgery.

I was fortunate. No nausea, very little pain (mostly soreness). I did have pain in my shoulder from the gas, but it was mild.

For me, the uncertainty before surgery was really the worst part of the whole thing.

Best of luck with your surgery on Wednesday. If you are a person of faith, just say your prayers and trust that you will be ok. Do everything you are asked to do and walk as soon as you are able.

Keep us posted.

I was really excited rather than scared and my only real fear was getting the cannula in without me passing out. I was concerned about drinking Water afterwards as I usually drink so much but apart from the first few days I have been able to drink lots (today I have had 72 oz and its only 7pm). I am nearly 6 weeks out.

One thing I did which I found really helpful was to wear things which weren't fitted over my tummy, so nice nightdresses, summer beach dresses etc etc. It was week 3 before I really got dressed ! Make sure you walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip and rest in between. That will take most of your day up ;-)

Jennifer, nerves are normal but you will do great. Wednesday will be the first day of the rest of your 'new' life. Please make sure you come back and let us know how you get on.

Speedy recovery! :D

@OKCPirate...your reply was sweet & so true. And I agree with you too.

@@Jennifer Cunningham....good luck on surgery day. The nerves are your way of preparing for the days after your surgery is done. I'm in the final stage of my insurance process now. The closer I get, the easier it is to reach that point if knowing I'm there makes it all worth it. I'm excited to be this close finally for myself so I can only imagine how you are freaking out right now. Just think, you made this decision to guve yourself the life you've been dreaming, you're health will be better & you'll be able to do so much more than you could imagine. This tool will be your guide to an amazing new you & a year from now you'll look back & say "I'm did it! I'm so proud of myself for getting this far in my journey!" I know you have the luck & the strength to make it in this new journey you're starting. Xoxo

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
