I'm 11 days out and I just couldn't take anymore. I'm not supposed to have pureeds until tuesday but I let myself get too hungry and I went and got a pintos and cheese from taco bell, i added sour cream and hot sauce to it and I inhaled the whole thing. Just shoved it down. In my head it feels like nothing but in my gut it hurts, it was definitely too much, I couldn't throw it up and now I don't know what to do. Did I cause a leak? Or just make myself sick? I'm worried that I permanantly messed something up so now I feel sick AND guilty. I know I got some pysch work to do. Any thoughts?

I doubt you caused a leak but you certainly ate too much, too early, and too fast.

One of the reasons we are recommended to follow a certain food plan is to avoid what happened to you -- feeling sick and uncomfortable. Our food plans are based on others' previous experience. Sometimes we ignore the best advice and have to try things on our own. Sounds like you have experienced first-hand the results of eating too much, too fast, with the wrong texture. Hopefully, the results will give you a bit more motivation to be more patient with the process. It is recommended for your benefit.

Thank you. I certainly knew it was a bad idea. I feel sick but not too bad. I was really worried about causing problems and my husband is most definitely not pleased with me. It's almost like confessing a sin to post it on here!

The "hunger" could actually be acid reflux. If you aren't taking something for reflux, try a Zantac. It certainly helped me.

You didn't permanently hurt anything. Zantac sounds like a good idea. It's kind of good if you do that once in awhile. You feel so horrible that you won't do it again for a long time. I couldn't stand all the pizza commercials and decided about 3 wks out I've got to have one bite. Totally threw up and pizza hasn't sounded good since. Don't stress. It'll pass and you'll be okay. ❤️

I think that keeps me from eating too much is the fear of tearing my stomach wide open. Started a new job this past week and have no insurance now so staying within small portions is not too hard with that motivation in mind. My biggest problem is eating too fast, hard not to with only a 30 min lunch. By the time I get to the cafeteria at work and get my food, I only have fiveteen min max. I already threw up once, I stick to Soup now.

30 minutes for lunch is so insane. Years ago I worked for a company, on a time clock that only allowed for a 30 minute lunch. They had a company dining room but you couldn't be seated and served in 30 minutes most days let alone eat. It was crazy.

I am also having the same issue with a 30 minute lunch, and a job that doesn't allow food at your desk

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
