And now time for a stall!

Recommended Posts

Yup picture me on that scale every morning, with my fingers crossed and then a palm to my forehead. This is a week now. Reallly?! I am about to throw my scale out. However, I have noticed inches. I am far from giving up. I am now 4 1/2 months out. I've lost 95 lbs and I feel great! I just think my body needs some time, but so close to 100 lbs?! Only 30 lbs to Onderland!!

Congratulations on your weight loss so far. If the scale is causing you too much stress, set it aside and only weigh yourself once per month.

I weigh myself daily each morning when I get up. But I do not beat myself up when I read my weight. I use it as a tool to tell me if I am headed in the right direction after my experimentation with food.

But many surgeons and nutritionist seem to recommend that you do not weigh yourself daily.

@@TXMissy I know how frustrating it is! I am also about 4.5 months out although I started much heavier than you. I also just came off a 10 day stall, and then had the best one week loss ever (even better than right after surgery). I agree with @@James Marusek about putting the scale away and focusing on the inches like you already noted. As you said, your body is adjusting and I bet you will see a nice drop on the other side of this stall. I have found this is a great opportunity to focus on NSVs and other benefits of our process, but I know this doesn't make looking at the same number day after day any easier. Good luck.

I'm in the same boat as you! Almost 4 months post-op & hit a stall the last week. I am close to onederland as well & nearing my hundred pound loss. {Sigh} Bumping up my fluids, tracking Protein like crazy, and walking every day. Here's to hoping we both see a boost soon!!!

My surgery date was April 27. I weigh every Sunday. Today I hit a stall . I didn't lose anything this week. It really stinks!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
