Sugarless gum or mints ?

Recommended Posts

I know this may be TMI but, I feel like my breath is gross. I should call my surgeons office, but I was just wondering do any of you chew sugarless gum or suck on sugarless mints ? I am afraid to get to close to anyone LOL

@@shellyd67 I feel your pain. Even with brushing and rinsing I still have this nasty taste in my mouth since surgery and feel my breath is just kickin'. My surgeon unfortunately said gum needs to wait about a month. His reasoning was that a lot of air is taken in when chewing that can lead to gas pressure.

I had sugarfree gum 2 weeks post op or so and had no problems. I just chewed it for like 5 minutes and was careful not to swallow it haha. I also have had sugarfree mints and they were fine, but I did feel a little yucky if I had more than one in a short amount of time though.

I tried sugar free gum ... but thought it was soooo sweet ... yuck !

So my old faithful friend "Icebreakers Mints - Wintergreen" are my go-to's ! :)

Might just be an old habit ... but I "gotta have something" in my mouth ... crazy, I know!

I think it's ketosis breath? I could be wrong. But it is a major problem!!! I use listening strips, gum, ice breakers, floss, listerine rinse and brushing, lol. I'm a month and a few days post-op sleeve. My hubby says he doesn't smell anything, but I just have this awful taste!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
