I had a cup of dry corn flakes no milk or nothing and I was wondering if you think the doctor would not perform the surgery because I ate this yesterday and my surgery is Monday ?

well...I have no idea but Idk. I recall a story of a patient who fasted for 3 days then the day before surgery ate a meal and she had to start all over again. Maybe just a few cornflakes will pass quickly enough- I hope so for your sake!!

The only one who can answer that question is your surgeon. but I suggest that you do inform him/her that you consumed cornflakes and when. The incision will be his.

Some go forward with the surgery and others don't. Some see it as you are not ready. Others will see it that it has to be done for your health and worry about your addiction later.

But you have to be ready for what is ahead. And that is retraining your thinking and actions regarding food. It is not your master. You are the master.

You can do this! Go forward with confidence and knowledge that this is what you want. So that you can become a healthier and happier person, by letting the real you out. :)

It is really important to let your surgeon know and let he/she decide what to do. The hospital I work at does weight loss surgery. There was one girl who ate pizza during the weekend and her surgery was on a Monday. She didn't tell the surgeon and when he began working in her stomach there was still some remnants of pizza left. He finished the surgery, but she spent a few days in ICU before going home.

It's better to be safe than sorry.

Good luck to you!

Ultimately it's up to your surgeon. I know many people don't have to do the liquid diet prior to surgery. I know I did and I followed it and it was hard. I know a close friend didn't and all she had to do was Clear Liquids 24 hours prior to surgery. I would tell my surgeon just to be on the safe side.

You had better be drinking about a gallon of Water today to flush that out of your system. Even if you don't tell your surgeon, the truth will be evident as soon as your stomach is operated on. Now you have put yoursel at risk for an infection in your abdominal cavity. Normally, I am not so harsh, but I don't wish acute peritonitis on anybody.

Water, water, water, like your life depends upon it.

I had surgery and didn't need to do a 2 week fast I think it was a gradual 3 day diet with clear liquids a few days before...

I would definitely drink a great deal of Water.< /p>

I didn't even have to do clear liquids or liquids at all the day before. I was simply told, eat a 1200-calorie a day diet for 6 weeks before and don't have anything including liquids after midnight the day before surgery. (My surgery was at 8:30 a.m., at a Center of Excellence and a major university hospital.) It went fine. So I'd say, tell your surgeon, but don't stress overly about it.

You are fine. It takes a matter of hours to digest corn flakes, not days. Good luck on your surgery tomorrow!

I think the bigger question is, why did you eat something that you weren't supposed to before your surgery.

But then again, you didn't ask that question.

Well I was told by my surgeon that he didn't care what I ate the day before surgery as long as I didn't eat after midnight. So I ate the day before and I'm 4 mos post op. As long as you don't eat after midnight you should be fine. Just my opinion, and not a professional one at that, but that is what my surgeon told me.

You should be fine, I never had to do a clear liquid pre-op just a week of high Protein low carb 1,000 calorie diet and the usual no food after midnight thing.

Thank you all . Had my surgery August 24th. A few problems after surgery but doctor said it's all normal. Some internal bleeding but it'a all good now . Still getting use to my new stomach . It's gonna take some time . I still feel like I am healing even after 2 weeks of the surgery . Now probably the hardest part trying to get use to the portions . Not that I wasn't warned . Just gonna take time to adjust . Right now I am in the soft food stage . Won't be long and I will be back to good ole solid foods . I can't drink cold Water right now . It's too jarring for my stomach . But I am hoping in the future maybe 3-4 months I can drink cold Water again . But hey I have lost 36 lbs in 2 weeks . Seems like alot I know but my stomach has been kind of tricky and like I said I am still adjusting to the amounts I can eat .

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
