Fill From Hell

Recommended Posts

I'm almost 1 year post-opt and Monday I went in for a fill. This was my first fill in 7months. I was at around 4.1cc and my Surgeon filled me to around 4.6/4.7cc (I have a 10cc band). Everything was fine and I was doing liquids and yogurt until Wednesday. Wednesday I was having trouble keeping liquids down. Thursday same story. I PB on all liquids and have really bad heartburn/reflux. I called my surgeon and he can see me first thing Saturday morning. I was curious if anyone as experienced delayed irritation and discomfort after a fill.

I did back in November. Doc said I'd 'feel' that fill. Lost ten pounds Thursday until Tuesday! Same, couldn't keep liquids down. Slight u fill and back in my way. And, I didn't regain that ten pounds!

Ice chips and sugar free Popsicles until Saturday!

Thanks, I'm counting down the hours before I can see my doctor. I ended up passing out at work and busting my lip. My boss made me go to the hospital but I'm feeling a lot better after receiving an IV. I guess 2 days without food and just a tiny bit of Water took its toll on me in this heat.

I did on my last fill....my Dr. asked me to stick it out.....I took it easy for a week or two more, liquids and mushie foods, and eventually it subsided....I have been there ever since, over 4 years ago and doing just fine.....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
