Who is glad the hog feed is over???

Recommended Posts

I am sooooooooooooo glad the hog feed that the Fourth of July is, is over!!!!! I has a blast up until the time to eat then it all hits me!!!! Then everyone acts like it is their last supper and start shoving food in their mouths until they have a look of pain on their faces!!!! Going back in the line two, three sometimes four times!!!!!!!! GOD, it gets old watching this!!!!! My family and extended family went to the resevoir and pulled kids around on the tubes all day!!! I didn't drink enough and just wanted to drink my dinner, but knew I had better eat something, so I had a small amount and didn't even eat that!!! Makes me sick to watch the amount of food people mindlessly shove in their mouths and the QUALITY of that food.

I stayed home and avoided all celebrations just because I knew it would kill me to be near it. I've just been banded two weeks and I LOVE ribs, hot dogs, etc. I knew I could never handle it. It's bad because the yearly tasting celebration is going on in Detroit (fairly close) and I love going. Alas, I won't be attending this year. I'm also avoiding watching the news because of it. I did happen to catch a couple of stories last night and was amazed at the amount of food people had on their plates. Two weeks ago I'd have thought absolutely nothing of eating a whole rack, and possibly a rack and a half of ribs by myself. Now I just dream of only a taste and I'd be happy.

and soon even the thoughts of a taste might leave your thoughts. I know I thought pizza was going to be the end all for me. I LOVE PIZZA!!!!!!!! We used to order two family size just so I would make sure and get my 8-9 slices at dinner then 5-6 as midnight snack. I ate that stuff like it was leaving the planet in the next hour!!! I have had it once since being banded....one of the first solid foods that I ate...and it had no power over me....NO

I did OK. A hot dog (no bun), a bit of potato salad, and a small sliver of cake. I should have skipped the cake, but hey, you gotta live a little right? In the past, I would have eaten 2 hot dogs with Buns, a hamburger with bun, tons of potato salad, baked Beans, Desserts, blah blah blah. The band is a gooooood thing!!!

Ahhhh the rib thing. I keep thinking I will be able to eat some if I really chew. No dice. Ribs will make me PB and be in unbearable pain!

I can eat some pizza though. I used to eat about 4 or 5 slices, easy. Now I try to eat only one or maybe 2. Fortunately it satisfies. I'm still shocked at not being able to eat more pizza. Yes, thank heavens for the Band!!!!

We had steaks cooked on the grill. The problem was that my gas grill wouldn't work. So I got $16 worth of propane and hooked it up. It worked. When it came time to cook the steaks, it wouldn't work. I beat it with a wrench and knocked off a lot of rush, but it refused to work. Luckily my friend had a little charcoal grill so she got it, some charcoal and some lighter Fluid and we cooked the steaks. They were wonderful. Very tender so I could eat mine. Of course, I beat the crap out of them with a meat mallet before we cooked them. I now have a little charcoal grill that my friend donated to me, some charcoal and some lighter fluid. I may have steaks again before long assuming I can afford them. I gave the gas grill away and am determined to go low tech in future.

Well normally Green, a good steak stays in your system for days and days, but in your case.....:rolleyes

Bitter you positively crack me up!:heh:

I'm slated to cook a big chunk 'o meat for the fam tomorrow, either in the oven or on the grill. I had fully planned to make the barbeque sauce recipe posted earlier, but didn't get the Laphriong Scotch that it requires. I don't know how critical that ingredient is, but I am under the impression that it is one of the things that makes the sauce so special. :hungry:

I went up north yesterday (I'm there now) so I wouldn't be tempted. Thank GOD Traverse City is about 90 minutes from me up here, or I'd be at the the damned Cherry Festival pigging out on cherry pie and cherry ice cream and cherry jam and cherries!

My DH husband asked me the other day "So I guess we won't be eating RIBS at Montana's Steakhouse anymore eh?"

I used to love going Wed.nights it was ALL-you=can EAT RIB night... I usually had one whole rack then order anothe couple of ribs, then another..... leave the baked potato and side veggies and just eat the meat....

OMG... Well, I gues those days will be over and besides, I've already EATEN a lifetime of Ribs... LOL

I am sure tht I'll be able to handle a small pork chop (2-3 oz) with a bit of BBQ Sauce on top sometime in the future..

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
