I'm from Virginia too! 40 miles south of Richmond. I'm 30 but only just. I'm right in the middle of my insurance six month wait so I'm looking at December or January for surgery (What a lovely present. Major life changing surgery.)

Has anyone considered blogging about their journey? I've always found writing to be a great outlet, especially blogging, since it has the potential to reach others who can relate. I was thinking about maybe vlogging as well?

My goal is too provide a straight-forward, blunt look at the good, the bad and the ugly of this process. Let me know if you are doing something similar! Here's a shameless plug for my first entry. :)

Also, if anyone else is interested in joining the Facebook group specifically for our age group (late teens and early thirties also welcome), just shoot me a message!

I'm 25... But I had my surgery when I was 24 years old. To be honest I spent my 25 birthday recovering from surgery. I would love to be in the blog group on FB. I am not sure how to send a personal message with my e-mail address. Could someone help me. Thanks!

It's nice to know there are others my age having the surgery! It will be nice to stay in touch! How is the Facebook group going? I think I'd like to join.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
