Oh my gosh... In my region WLS is so rare and has a negative stigma... I'm in my very early stAge of preparation and I told my boss we are very close and though she is over 60 LBS lighter than I am ...we have always done diets together but she was not supportive it crushed me. In my culture WLS is for the weak in will and those who are giving up or want the easy way out...And trying for them to understand that this notion is so far from the truth is so Exhausting. I know that they love me and is genuinely concerned and horrified even

But I Did the research and I'm organizing my financing and I'm doing it..and though I want the support of close friends and family... I'm going to be ok without it... They will come around...

For me that's all I can deal with right now my boss and sis and my male companion ... That's it until it becomes obvious that I'm loosing

Couldn't tell my mom just yet....it will be too much to deal with...

So every one else has to wait to see

My husband and a close friend were the only people that knew for a long time. After attending the seminar and making the final decision to go for it, I shared with my parents, in-laws, siblings and best friends. Best decision ever!! Everyone was sooooo supportive and encouraging when I was getting discouraged. Now that I have my date (9/23), I have went public with it and got an overwhelming amount of support! I plan to share my journey along the way and I am excited to be a encouragment to others considering this life changing tool! My hope is that if I am transparent about my journey, I will be more accountable with my actions. I can understand being private though too!

I've told my closest friends and family , but very few people at work. I had the revision from band to sleeve 4 weeks ago. So far so good.

Today, after a pretty stressful day at work, when walking out, I was commiserating with a colleague who doesn't know. Her advice was to go home, have some chips and salsa and a glass of wine and everything would be better. I guess that's what I get for not telling people. I just laughed it off and said maybe I'll play with the dogs instead!

@shaqhki hello it's so easy for ppl to say it's the easy way out as they have not done it I'm almost 6 months post op sleeve it's not easy I've had a few comments like that and I say well have this procedure live with it and then we can discuss exactly what about it you feel is so easy until then shut the hell up the truth of the matter is this will help you lose weight initially however if u eat the same way you did before you won't be very successful it's a tool not a miracle try not to let the negative comments affect you you must put effort into it for it to work people who don't understand the procedure and how it works really should do the research before commenting but as they say opinions are like assholes everybody has one keep your head up and keep walking

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
