Hiatal Hernia and wishful thinking

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I am definitely not holding my breath for a date tomorrow. I did call Lisa today and leave a message saying I am ready before Silivia gave me the go ahead, so we will see if that helped anything. I don't know whats so hard about scheduling surgeries, but I am sure she has other responsibilities. Keep me posted ladies!!

I feel like I need an Org chart to keep all the people straight at the Nicholson Clinic - Sylvia, Lisa... and who does what!

Have any of you dealt with Abbey? She's my contact right now. I am waiting on a call from a nurse to review my chart since I just sent in my initial intake paperwork last week. Abbey did say that I should keep my phone on me because the nurse will call in between patients when she has time, so it would be hard to get a hold of her if I miss the call.

I have my EGD scheduled for Monday. Once I get confirmation about my hernia, I'll be calling Sylvia and Lisa asap! I have to say that you all are being way more patient that I would be, haha. I will be persistent with the sugar :)

Got ahold of Lisa via email today. Oct 22! She offered Oct 1, but I'm going on vacation and cannot do the pre-op diet in time.

But yay! I'm on the books!

I finally emailed Silvia today and told her I hadn't been contacted could she please look into it because it's been over a week. She responded and said I let her know. Short and sweet Silvia (not) then Lisa emailed me and said she jUST received orders to contact me from Silvia today. So that's frustrating but I'm set for October 6!

Did you ever have an initial consult or will your trip for surgery be the first time meeting the Dr?

I meet Dr Long the 14th of October and had my EGD last Friday where they found hernia. I am in the same boat as most of you hernia/sleeve route. After I meet Dr Long I wonder how long I will wait ? Will I have a list of things to do ( I am cleared through True Results) so I am hoping I just get to schedule surgery. Labs have been tracked, heart checked, EGD done..anyone go through True Results?

Still no date! ???? I didn't have high expectations. I keep watching airline tickets increase in price and I am starting to panic. But I am blessed to have this opportunity at a discounted cost so I am gonna try and be patient.

SleeveFaith- oh no!! Still waiting ? Such a bummer. I'm sorry. Who's your Dr. again? Is it Nicholson? I bet it's even more nerve wracking knowing the flight and hotel hinge on that date! Come on clinic!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
