3 months post op

Recommended Posts

Today marks 3 months since my revision surgery (4/30/15).

-> I am down 46lbs.

-> I hit the dreaded 3 week stall and it lasted two weeks.

-> I now seem to be losing around 10 lbs a month. I can live with that.

-> I do exercise and see a personal trainer twice a week. I am feeling so much stronger.

-> My extreme lethargy went away around week 5 or 6.

-> I do get hungry now, but only occasionally and it is amazing how a few cashews can make it go away.

-> I do start my day with a Premier Protein shake to help boost my Protein intake. I then eat every 3 to 4 hours, protein first then veggies if I can fit them.

-> food does not taste the same. It is no longer exciting, which is a good thing. I can look at a menu and choose the healthy option, rather than what sounds yummy.

-> I easily feel full and have no issue pushing my plate away.

-> I don't care that I am wasting food. I was wasting it before too by stock piling it on my waist!

-> I went on vacation for a week and came back 2lbs lighter! That has never happened before, even with the band.

-> For me the sleeve is WAY better than the band. My only regret is that I did not get the sleeve sooner.

I hope this helps people who are earlier in the process. I would love to hear from others who are around the same point in their journey.

i am 2 months and about 10 days out, its amazing how we keep count :)

i too survived the stall, i have had two so far....and i always feel better when they are done. its because for so long that scale went up and up and never stayed the same or went down..its a great feeling...

i dont do the Protein shakes anymore, my nut said not too and i honestly couldnt stomach them much anymore!

i am able to get most of my Protein through Snacks like turkey pepperoni and shrimp for lunch :) what a life...

my grocery bill has gotten a lot smaller! thats always nice

and i am almost out of "old" pants that used to be too small...

sounds like we are both awesome..along with all the other sleevers!

yay go us!

About ten weeks here. I had lost 52 pounds before the surgery in about five months and I am 38 pounds down since the surgery for a total of ninety pounds this year. I am losing much slower than most of the post surgery people, but I feel good and have been able to get back to working out in the pool. Looks like I will lose about 2-3 pounds per week and I can live with that.

The other day my daughter and I were carrying a box into the house that weighs about a hundred pounds and we were struggling a bit with it. Afterwards I made the comment that I had been carrying around that box all by myself for the past few years. Really puts it into perspective.....

I had to have my gall bladder removed about week five and it was harder to get over that than the original surgery- but now it all looks rosy........  :D

I am down over 100lbs since before my band surgery. It is crazy to think about carrying that much weight around. I can't imagine how good it will feel to be at goal. Was the gall bladder surgery due to your weight loss?

My list of new things is almost the same!

I can tell when my stomach is empty. It's not the same hunger feeling like I used to get. It is strictly a physical feeling that my stomach is sending me that my body needs fuel.

We also went on vacation last weekend to New Orleans, a foodie paradise! I avoided the scale all week but today I got on and I was down! I didn't watch what I ate while there, although I stuck to Protein first. But the portions I ate were so small compared to how I used to eat. We went for ice cream and I ordered a scoop in a cup and could only eat half of it. Never in my life have I pushed away ice cream!

That is a perfect description of hunger now!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
