It depends on what kind of job you have. I work at a desk. I am on the phone and computer most of the time. I had surgery on Wednesday and was back at work on Monday. If your job requires more physical exertion, I would take more time.

Good luck!!

I am a nurse and I took four weeks off and was so glad to have the time to heal, rest, and learn to eat and drink with my new sleeve.

I took 1 week I had my surgery on 7/20 n went back on 7/27 but yes it does depend on the work you do. I have to admit I felt better but extremely weak the first day or two not sure if anyone can relate.

I took one week off. I was totally exhausted and spent a lot of that first week sleeping. I work from home full time. The second week I worked 4-5 hours each day. By the third week I was back full time. But I had to start working from the couch and the coffee table because it hurt my back really badly to sit in my desk chair all day.

I am very active at work (work IT in hotels), I am glad I found this. I was wondering how many days to take. I was thinking two weeks would be a good number but I am now wondering.

I had surgery July 15th, and i have desk job. I am going back to work august 3rd so took 2.5 weeks off. I probably could I have went back one week out but would rather be safe and make sure I'm 100%.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
