My first MD appt after seminar...what to expect?

Recommended Posts

Wow we both pretty have the same difficulties my foot dr had to give me foot insoles and even with that I still hate to feel the weight on my legs. I get chronic lower back pain that ends up turning into a pinch nerve on my left leg starting from my hips. I'm also anxious and can't wait. You will be just fine and this will be so worth it.

Yes I too have the insoles, a brace for nighttime and had cortisone injections. It's all back to horrendous pain.

It's the worst pain but all these signs of our body crying out for us to make a change will be long gone after the surgery. ???????????? we will feel great and gain not only energy but we won't have to carry the weight on our backs legs let alone toes

????????here here! It just seems so surreal to me and I guess I'm in denial. Anticipating roadblocks and I need to stop that. I need to sit back, reflect and enjoy this ride. So hard though.

It is but it's a matter of learning to eat better and at smaller portions. But your not alone ????????????????I'm nervous myself at the change but I'm excited at the results a year from now

I am too! I can't wait and anticipate the loss that's inevitable, but I guess I don't believe it. I can't explain it other than feel this won't happen for me. So bizarre and I don't know why I'm feeling that way.

Hang in there I feel the same but I know the months are flying by and before you know will you will drop inches weight and look amazing. Most of all you will be healthy no more insoles or pains. Give it time and patience. It's aggravating trust me God knows I want to drop this weight at 265 and 5"7" height it's really bothering me. I can't even play with my 11 year old without having to sit down and relax. So don't get discouraged you can always vent and talk to me or anyone here

What diet or drinks is your Nut recommending to take during the no wait gain stage ? I finally see my surgeon this coming Wednesday after going to the seminar. What should I expect on that date ? Do they automatically start you on a diet ?

@@thbrown223

My NUT recommended Water, crystal light, or any non-carbonated, sugar free beverages. Nothing high in calories. Oh that's great, I really enjoyed my seminar. I attended the seminar and then I had 2 hour webinar. My surgeon said it was best to complications in the webinar. You can view it, write your questions and then come to your first appt with questions.

No, I didn't receive any dieting information since I didn't have to lose weight prior to surgery, just can't gain weight, which is so stressful. Basically my NUT has been teaching me how to eat and drink after my bypass. I've been trying to implement these things early so it's easier after the surgery is complete.

- we started with no drinking while eating, 30mins after eating, I'm now working on not drinking 15mins before eating

-now I'm working on taking smaller bites, that seems to be the hardest for me so far. My NUT advised to ball up a small post it note really tight. Keep it in front of me while I'm eating as a reminder. Our bite size should be the size of a chick pea. ???? which should be chewed 25-30 times. I'm working on it.

I'm also trying different Protein shakes so I'll know what to buy closer to surgery, but I won't buy in bulk as our taste buds may change.

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to share what I received. I have the post op "meal plan", I can email it to you?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
