Ok so I need help here... One week post op

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on July 13th, doing much better! Wasn't really nauseous after the hospital and pain was to be expected. I'd say day 5 I started to notice this weird stabbing pinch pain like above the main incision to the right. It got pretty bad I am only comforted by holding it. Mainly it only hurts when I walk, if I'm laying down I barely feel it! One more thing... I don't know if it's possible but did I stretch my pouch already!!!?? I have been drinking a lot! Which I thought was good but I'm only day seven post op and I can drink a whole bowl of Soup broth in about 30 without feeling any sort of full feeling? I haven't felt full yet? That worries me?

The pain you are experiencing in your incision area may be due to healing but if it's severe I would recommend that you call your surgeon.

No, your sleeve has not stretched. As you are still on liquids you will be able to handle more as your swelling goes down. You won't really feel any restriction until you start more solid foods.

Hey we are surgery sisters! And I had the same questions out my incision. Good luck!

Liquids pretty much run right through your new tummy. It's one of the reason why we are advised not to eat and drink close together. For those not feeling restriction, continue to follow your doctor's instructions. Often the restriction doesn't kick in until you have progress to purees and soft foods.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
